The evening's surprise smash at the showcases was the Pappy Johns Band. This award-winning First Peoples blues :

act delivered awesome soul and R&B. Lead vocalist, Faron Johns, resembles John Candy but has more :

roadhouse in him than Delbert McClinton. :

Toronto Blues Society.................

Faron’s voice is not as omnipotent as when you hear the band perform live. Yet with the backing of guitar prowess and the :

power of their own songs, it's enough to determine you need to watch out for these guys. :

Blues Clips..............

The Pappy Johns Band's rockin’ blues has earned them a 2005 JUNO Award nomination

for Aboriginal Recording of the Year, for their latest album Full Circle, which also won

Best Blues Album at the 2004 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. From Six Nations in

Ohsweken, Ontario, members of the Pappy Johns Band have been performing in clubs,

festivals and events for more than 20 years.

Hot on the heels of concert appearances in Chicago, Ottawa and Winnipeg, The Barrie Jazz And Blues Festival VIII is

privileged to be able to present The Pappy Johns Band. The recent success of their first recording,

"Blame It On Monday" - which features some incredible original compositions , garnered the ensemble four Canadian

Aboriginal Awards in 2002, and earned them an invitation to the Chicago Blues Festival this past May - only the second

Canadian Artist to have ever achieved this distinction! Their latest recording will be completed in late June of this year.

Faron Johns has a tough time explaining his success. The 49-year-old is the lead singer and song-writer for :

the Pappy Johns Band, which stole the spotlight by winning four trophies at the fourth annual Canadian :

Aboriginal Music Awards held on Nov. 28 at Toronto's SkyDome. : Rhythm and blues group Pappy Johns Band :

received five Aboriginal Music Award nominations out of 13 Wednesday, including best group and song. The :

five musicians from Fort Erie, Ont., are best known as the house band for the popular aboriginal :

TV variety show Buffalo Tracks. :
