The fact that I have no remedy for all the sorrows of the world is no reason for my accepting yours.

About Me

It is not, in my experience, the comportment of even relatively interesting women and/or men to be making proud, or even modestly qualified, cyber-declaration of her or his own iconoclasm. In a context of such magnificent breadth and eclecticism as this dreadful and yet exceptional website -- depending upon the length of time a user would even be willing to invest in clicking through one idiotic profile after another -- that gauge of "relative" interest could prove incredibly significant. All the same, while perhaps in my towering egoism I believe myself uncommonly enchanting and knowing, I am also satisfactorily studied in how folk such as I generally perceive the advertisement of such virtues, that I know to only use this space to express but the very humblest of creeds.
I actively concern myself with one belief well above and beyond any other, and that is my unshakable faith in human potential. While frequently I am consternated by our expert ability to allow our petty vanities and base anxieties to drive us to do one another such terrific harm (empathetic to this not insignificant, and surely in part defining, side of our character as I am), I am to an even greater extent stirred by our apparent desire to always survive and evolve; as well as the occasional resourcefulness we exhibit, at our best, in seeking these ends. Now, do I believe we will -- as a species -- ever realize this potential? Not necessarily, not fully, and nor do I believe that the universe in any way, shape, or form will be any worse off if we don't; but possibility is, after all, the very best which most of us ever have when we pull our (in the case of my ilk, incredibly pale) asses out of the bed in the morning.
As for what interests me? Primarily I am interested in nothing, not nearly, so much as I am obsessing upon and dissecting, and deconstructing, to a practically pathological extent -- while emulating and attempting to modify and contribute to -- the fruits of human endeavor. Frequently, I'll admit, the results of labor with which I'm most concerned would be considered by some of my douchier, shittier, and grouchier fellows to be frivolous, but it's a testament to the staggering achievement of our (admittedly deeply flawed and, it must be said, arguably largely fucked and doomed) great society that so many of we have that luxury.
So, I believe in the same shit as most, and concern myself mostly with the same shit as most, and at the end of the day that suits me just fine. It's not for me to decide if I'm worthy of notice, but, holy shit, and by virtue of my being here at all it should almost go without needing to be written, I do hope you -- meaning someone, not necessarily you, as you specifically might be wretched -- notice me.
