Clarita - Biography
2008 introduces the new sound of Clarita. The new album “Soul Stories†features a more soulful R'n'B production style, which has evolved from a career spanning over seven years.
Like any artist worth their salt, Clarita’s music is the result of many things. Raised in Scotland to Filipino/Spanish and Dutch/Irish parents, as a child of the 80’s, it’s no wonder that her music sounds the way it does. Influenced by everyone from Nina Simone and Al Green to The Roots, Angie Stone and Jill Scott. Pinpointing the beginning of her musical career as a child she vividly remembers being mysteriously drawn from her bed to play the piano in her living room from the tender age of four.
Although Clarita is reluctant to categorise her music, others have attempted to define his sound. The likes of ‘So Natural’ provide soulful vibes to the album where as ‘Summer Time’ bring out the rnb flavours within her musical repertoire.
Clarita is most at home behind her piano. This has led Clarita to a more soulful, mature sound on her latest project. In collaboration with producer Sace on a new album Clarita presents a blend of classical soaring piano lines with simple soulful beats infused with urban influence.
Musician and model – Clarita has become many things to many people, but no matter what category you put her in, she’ll always find someway of getting out of it. Her affinity with the keys as well as percussion has fuelled a fire that has driven her musical direction as well igniting a passion for vocals. Performances include 1xtra’s In the City, support for Amp Fiddler, Akon, Martin Luther, as well as radio plays on 1xtra, Radio 1, Shmu FM, Radio Scotland to name a few.
Her successful modelling career has opened up a new world for Clarita. Recent campaigns demonstrate that Clarita is determined in all aspects of her life. From RBS adverts, Ultimo Underwear shoots and salon International catwalks for Wella, , Clarita has found herself to enjoy another side of her media oriented career.
The new sound of Clarita has resulted in an album that has the energy and impact of a debut piece of work. This beautifully crafted album is a perfect mixture of upbeat soulful tracks as well as jazzy laidback tunes. Its smooth production allows Clarita to display her superb vocals at its simplest and best.
