About Me

i am happy because polly jean harvey has made another incredibly beautiful album
i am sad because i still haven't broken in one of my new boots and it is making me walk around with a grumpy face

My Interests

Playing my autoharp through my guitar effects pedals to create a sound like armageddon in the appalachians, messing on my guitar, singing really sad songs, drinking gin, smoking, listening to bluegrass, playing with animals, sunday night pub, 100 year old photos, reading lots of books, cooking dinner to the sounds of western swing, going to lots and lots of gigs, getting in a mess, growing things, drinking beer, feeding animals of all kinds, dancing, speaking to people with regional dialects, writing poems, having an opinion, escaping to the wild places, meeting beards, festivals, laughing out loud, swimming in the sea, learning really old folk songs, hanging with the crows in the park, admiring live-in vehicles, playing with my cats, drinking a nice cup of tea with someone, making up rules for myself and then breaking them

Music:

Amiina, Rachel's, Spiritualized Electric Mainline

Movies:

Black Cat, White Cat. Bob Roberts.Rambo III. My favourite film is The Wicker Man. I like Scandanavian films. I like little animations. I love Hayao Miyazaki. I don't like gore, though I did love the Proposition. I like Chris Fowler's DVDs best of all.

Television:

Charlie Brooker. Flight of the Conchords.
Malcolm Fucking Tucker in the Thick Of It.
And Sir David, who blatantly should be Lord of All Creation

Books:

My favourite book is Immortality by Milan Kundera. Recently: A Letter To A Christian Nation, A Cure For Death By Lightning, Oscar and Lucinda, The God Delusion. I love Seamus Heaney, E. Annie Proulx, Peter Carey, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Laurie Lee, Rennie Sparks, DC Berman, Jim Dodge, Angela Carter, Carol Ann Duffy, and I could go on forever about all the books I love. Come and see me in the library!

Heroes:

My clan, the Hardly-Standing-Wagstaff-Richardson-Sommer-Tree. The Carter Family. And Will Oldham, obviously.
