playn' beauty

Hello people from planet earth,My real name is Luis... Not a fake one, it's really my name. The playnbeauty team were formed in the late 90's till the beginning of the new millennium in the wonderful city of Lisbon... Somewhere in the middle of Portugal. Those were the days where Drum and bass rule in the heart of Bairro Alto. The alternative galleries like the likes of ZDB, to name but a few, provided the space needed for emerging unknown artists with interesting art works to show. Also we saw the birth of a magazine that delighted our brains and visual needs, the beautiful “Flirt” with a taste of a fanzine, prepared with a timeout flavor and mixed with art reviews and amazing articles about art events and art in general, was all for free. Let's not forget also the “biblia” (bible). Yes... I do feel nostalgic for those days... the band members were these crazy artists that entitled themselves as “Laurren's playn' beauty” later on only “playn' beauty”, Carla... the crazy chic that came from a small village near alentejo, Rui... A crazy fag with a crazy attitude and humour coming from the north of Portugal, Viseu and the only one sane within the group but totally neurotic... me, Born in the heart of Portugal... Lisbon. We started working on our first album during the time I broke a leg and had two spent three month at home, where I started working on most part of the songs. After recovering... we finished the album and decided to release in the week of youth in Lisbon at the “Art and +” event organized by other independent artists... There we released “sisters are calling” and it was a huge success. After that, there was plans to do a second album... but Rui and Carla disappeared, and I decided to postpone the record and go out on a mission to look for them. A few songs are already in progress... but the Ideas and vocals can only be finished with all the members brought to life again... maybe one day we will.As for myself... I am now living in the depressive city of London... I say depressive because the weather here is awful and I do miss my Lisbon sun during winter. I became a photographer after my passage through the early plan' beauty success and I also found a new passion... super 8 film and 16mm. I still like to be involved with musicians and music. I am totally open to photograph bands and music artists... I can do it for free but you guys have to pay for the films and developments.
