GriotStarters is a collaboration between three conscious DJs: DJ Hoodwink, Mellow.Drum.Addict, and Bajan Dread.We are Hip hop. You are. I am... We are. Therefore we must embrace our culture as we do our jobs, our health, and our family. Our commitment to our own success must also include a commitment to our culture.This project was started first and foremost from a love of music. In the current mixtape happy world of rap music with its focus on new, new, new and now, now, now... our culture seems to have been lost or at least driven very far "underground."We combine our celebration of the finest in all music, with critical thought spoken by scholars, activists, and thinkers and put that all in a 40-60 minute mix-tape for your listening pleasure.We give you a chance to reflect on what you have listened and urge you to ask critical questions. These critical questions and themes are often marginalized in Hip hop.We only ask you to do 3 things... Listen. Think.
