Facundo Cruz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in February 1987 and since very little he had a close tie with music, being brought up at a household where rhythms like progressive rock, eighties rock and bossa nova were permanently being listened to. At the early age of six he had his first encounter with musical interpretation when he received a little piano as a birthday present, which would for ever mark him leading him to later on grow interestest in other instruments.
This is how a few years later, at 11, he began his guitar studies playing mainly rock, especially influenced by artists like George Harrison and The Beatles, it was then when he took part of several bands, improving his technique later on at the Escuela de Música de Buenos Aires. At 16, driven by a curiosity for India’s classical music, he began his studies at SaRGaM, a school specialised in the classical music of India, where he took lessons of Sitar and other instruments of Indian music. His endeavour and determination for this music would have him that same year playing live in various occasions together with his master, Ariel Chab Tarab.
It was around then that influenced by the sounds of sequences and synthesizers from bands and artists like Virus, Gustavo Cerati, Daft Punk and Kraftwerk that Facundo begun to develop an interest for electronic music and started experimenting with his computer, recording various instruments and merging electronic music with his previous knowledge of Indian music and djing at dfferent small pubs and clubs of Buenos Aires.
As a DJ, he played at Buenos Aires..s most important clubs like Pacha, Mint, Big One, Bahrein, Caix and Pinar de Rocha, and shared the booth with artists such as Above & Beyond, Max Graham, Valentino Kanzyani, Umek, Marko Nastic, Andrew K, Jason Jollins, Dario Ef, MOS, BsAs Deep, Victoria R, Big Fabio, Festa Bros & Logistik Sounds among others. His tracks has been signed to labels such as Acute, Existence, Balkan Connection, Kumquat Tunes and Pissed Off Recordings , awarding him the support of artists of the size of Hernán Cattaneo, Dave Seaman, Paolo Mojo, Nic Fanciull, MOS, Anthony Pappa, MartÃn GarcÃa, Deep Mariano, Tommyboy, Yvel and Tristan, Sam Perez, Steve Parry, Chloe Harris, Dj Tarkan, Festa Bros, Victoria R and Chris Salt to name a few.
Facu starts 2007 with some succesful releases and with his new Radio Show which he hosted at KSK radio along with Nicholas Van Orton, BsAs Deep and Gerardo Boscarino juring the first months of that year. That same year he got invited to play four consecutive times at Ministry of Sound parties @ Pachá Buenos Aires in events along with G-Pal, Thomas Penton, Marc Hughes and Chris Fortier. Along with many good things to come and many more releases on the way, the year 2008 presents itself as a year filled with work for Facu who, at his young age, has made for himself a very interesting place in the local scene.
