Nic Lerner - Dj/Producer

About Me

FIRST PERSON BIO I was born in Buenos Aires in the late seventies and already as a teen I was a regular of some of the city’s electronic music hot spots —like The Bulldog— but it wasn’t until the end of that same decade that I had my first gigs while taking part of the massive parties of the 501 project.
With the new millennium, I took my first steps in the world of music production and already by mid '02 several Djs were playing my cuts at places like The Shamrock here in Buenos Aires, Milenio in Montevideo and several clubs across America.
The following year I began my first weekly residency at the mythical Casa Chai (otherwise known as 'Armando'), where after two and a half years I performed in more than 300 occasions sharing the booth with artists like Nino Bennett (Uk), Bkatz (Aus), and Julián Aznar (Arg).
My sets usually comprise a blend of funky-tech basslines, hot percussions and a prevailing soulful feeling all through them. Among my top influences I always mention Raul Rincon, Freemasons, Atfc, Seaums Haji, Soul Avengers, Shapeshifters, Ian Pooley, Hoxton Whores and Richard Grey.
Besides playing at El Dorado together with French talent Dj Fudido (Fr.) as well as Nanaka and Freak Roy in several occasions, the year 2005 had me behind the postproduction of the latest album of the punk ensemble Baltimore In Love - Lick The Stars.
In 2006, lots of new stuff awaited me as I began working on radio with a column about electronic music on FM La Tribu as well as resuming my production outlet with tracks and edits that awarded me the encouraging support of of the likes of Add2Basket, Raw Shape, Lady Liquid, Takuma (Kor), Asle (Den.), Facu Cruz, Martin Lamelas, Damian Reds, Pineapple (Mex) to name a few.
In October of that same year I played at Peekabu in the province of Cordoba together with resident Rodrigo Vasis and in December I joined the Play Collective dj roster, not only as a dj but also as a translator and copywriter and played at its New Year's Eve launch party after Mexican headliner Pineapple.
This year I played at several Powerfest parties that took place at Mint club together with Diego Cid, Elio Risso, Luis Calegari, Carlos Shaw, Martín Lamelas, Phunktastike, Damián Reds and more. On August and September respectively I was a guest at DSound on Pure FM and and Add2Basket's show on Justmusic.fm.
Recently, I finished a remix of The One in Dub by Lesviconsoul (the first track of the player) which should soon be out on Beatport.
