DOWNLOAD FREE BIG LOVE SAMPLER HERE!“The Big Love philosophy is to embrace everything, all cultures, all creeds, all sexes, all races. Black, white, straight or gay, it’s all encompassing. Its the same for our music we love House music in all its wonderful shapes & formsâ€
Seamus Haji is a lucky guy. With over 20 years experience in the business he looks great, he has his own record label, enjoys being able to travel around the world doing international DJ dates, successfully balances his work life with his family life and he is credited for pioneering the now universally acknowledged ‘electro house’ sound with ‘Last Night a DJ Saved my Life’. This signature track went straight to the number one slot in the UK Dance Charts in as well as reaching 13 in the UK national charts in 2004.
As if these aren’t enough reasons to get a hint of the green eyed monster when reviewing Seamus’ glittering career, his fortune continued with the accidental success he achieved through his work with Booty Luv, remixing their unforgettable pop smash ‘Boogie Tonight’. Never meaning to write commercially, his mix was selected as the main radio edit and the track went on to reach No.2 in the UK charts and appear on almost every dance and pop compilation at the time. Which was nice.
Seamus’ recent projects have had him continuing to work with some of the biggest artists in pop including remixes of the No.1 smash ‘Umbrella’ by Rihanna, Just Jack, Roisin Murphy,Moby and current Indie dance favourites The Ting Tings.
Big Love is his beloved record label run buy himself and his long time partner and wife Janet Bell (herself a seasoned music industry big wig and previous label boss, who played a significant part in the set up of Defected Records). Together they make a formidable team. They do not feel the pressure to put out the next big record but instead describe the label as ‘low pressure and organic’. They strive to sign and put out tracks that they love, avoiding obvious fashions in music:
“We like to put music out that we love; we are not band wagon jumpers. Over the years we have evolved and the label is based around what I like to play as a DJ. It’s basically underground tracks that grow at club level and if we’re lucky some will cross overâ€.
Big Love's catalogue has grown to such an extent that they are now ready to bring us their debut compilation mixed by Seamus himself. As you would expect it is packed with some of Big Love’s principle upfront tunes as well as exclusives such as the new Haji & Emanuel single ‘The Pressure’ and the forthcoming Bob Sinclar & Axwell’s huge ‘What A Wonderful World’. On the remix front we have Seamus monstrous remix of The Ting Tings – ‘Shut Up and Let Me Go’ and Moby – ‘I’d Love to Move In here’, as well as fresh 2008 remixes of the classic ATFC ‘Bad Habit’ and Shakedown’s ‘At Night’. Commenting on the forthcoming compilation Seamus said “This mix has been done live – not on Ableton. I planned what I wanted to do and did it as I thought that it would have much more of an energy about itâ€.This will surely be a compilation with massive crossover appeal and is a true reflection of the Big Love label sound and a snapshot of a typical Seamus Haji DJ Set and shows the true spirit of Big Love.
