THE MOPES

Hi, we are a seven piece band called the mopes. We all live in Southampton. Its hard to put our music into a specific genre, its really quite fresh, with an old side and new side, a little bit like the kings of Leon; imagine Bob Dylan and the band and Maggy’s Farm, a bit like that!. The mopes formed back in 2003, it all started out with Ben (front man) and lead guitarist matt, they used to mess around with super fury animal covers, not performing them just messing around in bens attic, and as they gradually got better over the years our group of friends brought and learnt different instruments, Joe (bass guitarist), mark (piano/organ/synth), Luke (backing vocals and synth) Vince (percussion and backing vocals). After about 3 years we built up the courage to go out and play live across Southampton/Winchester/Portsmouth/Bournemouth/London.Our first gig was “The Joiners Arms” (2006) where we had an amazing response and our reputation and faithful following has grown ever since! Last year we sold “the Joiners” out 3 times (250-300 people) and we hold the record for taking the most takings in a night in the history of the joiners. Having now been gigging for about a year, we have a good following around Southampton, We are looking forward to 2007. We are looking to venture out further, playing new venues across England for new people to enjoy our music.Thank you for taking the time to listening to our music
