THE DRAIN PIPES 2005 - 2008

About Me

Plain MySpace Layouts by Iron Spider
The Drain Pipes are an energetic indie band from Manchester, whose name comes from the bands ever-tight performances.
The band formed in November 2005 and in their first year twice appeeared in the NME's new band section as well as playing 33 gigs up and down the UK including a festival slot at Manchesters Bridgewater Hall with top local band Polytechnic, and support slots with Les Incompetents, The Holloways, The Pigeon Detectives and Our Fold to name a few.
It has also been a great 2007 being chose to represent Manchester in the North West leg of the Transit Tour, bagging support slots with Angelic Upstarts and The Vibrators as part of The 2007 Punk Feast Tour, Playing "Manis Manic Monday" for popular north west radio station 96.2 The Revolution, becoming a featured artist on Clint Boons Music response show on XFM Manchester and grabbing a slot at Beached Festival 2007 in Scarborough along with The Paddingtons and Nine Black Alps, and more recently playing with both Bez and Paul Ryders new bands Domino Bones and Big Arm.
Now with new songs wrote weekly the band are drawing crowds of people keen to see what the fuss is about, these people are not going home dissapointed.
With an expanding song catalogue of love, hate, jealousy and loneliness the Drain Pipes will carry on to give off the ever tight performances anywhere to anyone.

Sounds Like:
The Drainpipes come perilously close to dissolving the stage with their acidic sound. The Clash and the Libertines rolled into one. The songs are a primitive punk set-up three odd chords at a high tempo. It’s as much about the attitude as the music. The Drainpipes are a great young band with trouble written all over them. A great future lies ahead if they don’t curb their tempers.
