Hyper-hyper-mediocrity

About Me

I am a highly volitile brew, a Molotov Cocktail of opinions, ideas, and plans which are often mistaken and mislead, but never spurious or unexamined. My ideals are underpinned by a fierce belief that communication could fix most ills but I am saddened by the fact that communication seems to be the hardest of all human endeavors. I am almost perpetually depressed and cynical, but my darkenss is punctuated by moments of optimism and idealism and energy. I'm a nature lover, interested in science, logic, beauty, art, darkness, adbusting and culturejamming, screwing social conventions, upholding the individual, and ignoring the masses.

My Interests

gothic and industrial music, DJing, macro nature photography, dancing, web design, culture jamming, sculpture, jewelry making, design, user interface, dark beauty, writing, reading...

I'd like to meet:

People who are not afraid of bucking the system, rocking the boat, questioning their own authority, giving up everything, and living a life fully examined.

People who at least try to use language correctly.

People who are thoughtful and interesting.

People with whom I have something in common -- I am not interested in guys who just troll around looking for hot chicks to add to their network. If you have more than 5 skinny blonde friends who are wearing bikinis in their user icons, please pass me by; I'm probaby not your type. Trust me on this.

Music:

80s and New Wave (Church, Duran Duran, Alphaville, Dolby, Hubert Kah), goth / dance (Bauhaus, Bella Morte, ThouShaltNot), old punk, industrial, ebm and synthpop, 80s and early 90s college alternative... I could keep going...

Movies:

Clockwork Orange, Shallow Grave, Until the End of the World, Some Kind of Wonderful, Breaking Glass, Wild Palms

Television:

Kill your television... please!

Books:

Wraeththu, Storm Constantine, His Dark Materials, Ursula K. LeGuin, dark SF/F, genderf**k, social satire and commentary

Heroes:

I used to have a hero.

My Blog

on the roads less traveled

Every time I stand at a crossroads (which is daily, even hourly), and see a path free and clear of briars and one overgrown and dangerous, I always feel the need to travel the dangerous one. The easy ...
