"Lights make inventive, invigorating and highly memorable dramatic pop,†– Playmusic Magazine (May 07)
“Looking young and scrumptious it’s like Johnny Depp and Radiohead kidnapped Robert Smith and went to visit Bach…Lights have an insatiable energy and some incredible songs,†– The Fly magazine (May 07)
Lights are a London based five-piece who write dynamic, dramatic pop rock. Mixing classical piano with ethereal guitars and mix of dark narratives and instant melodies, they create original soundscapes peppered with brilliant moments and memorable hooks. The band was formed at the start of 2007.
With an ethos for putting melody first, their intelligent use of arrangements, balancing guitar and piano hooks is often put to dazzling effect, Lights’ songs boast the instant grab of timeless sing-alongs and the more sought after depth that potentially classic song-writing offers.
Cataloguing love, loathing, fear and dreams, these are songs not concerned with fashion or trend and not rooted in any current or future scene. Blessed with uplifting melody and heart-felt sincerity, they are a band with big ambitions and big songs. They have massive choruses, spine-chilling moments and a live peformance that is all consuming.
Despite having played a small handful of gigs, Lights’ visceral energy and theatrical stage presence has already won them fans and critical acclaim. The band are now courting much interest and are hoping to find top level representation.
Lights are Andrew (singing), Courtenay (piano and synth), Daniel (electric bass), Ben (guitars) and Dom (drums).
The band rehearse at The Premises in Hackney and can be contacted direct on 07968 124545.
