Vampire Myspace Layouts
"I am what I am. And I don't think Betty Ford takes vampires."
I am probably the strangest, most enigmatic person you could probably meet. I have too many hobbies and interests to name them all in the short space allowed on the interests page - and I never can keep up with any of them (except my writing) for long because my imagination gets away from me and I get bored. I do love traveling, though, and am trying to plan a few vacations this year!
One thing I can say about myself with absolute certainty is that I'm a writer - I have actually been writing short stories since I was eight years old. Nowadays, my repetoire has branched out significantly, and I cannot really imagine a time when I wouldn't want to write. My muse is a forceful little bitch who grabs me by the throat and doesn't just lead me down a path but drags me along - and I've come to a point where I would miss that feeling if it were to disappear.
If you have this yearning to befriend someone who is wild, crazy, and loves to have fun, I'm yer gal!
A friend of mine inspired me to compile this after he used this idea as a point of interest for his singles' ad on craiglist's list. So, here is the Soundtrack To My Life:
1. Barry Manilow's Can't Smile Without You
2. Tim McGraw's Live Like You Were Dying
3. Alan Parsons Project's Oh Life (There Must Be More)
4. John Mayer's 3X5
5. Winger's Headed For A Heart Break
6. B.J. Thomas's Rock And Roll Lullaby
7. The Beatles' With A Little Help From My Friends
8. Sting's Brand New Day
9. Billy Joel's You're Only Human (Second Wind)
10. Chris Botti's Midnight Without You
11. Jackson Browne & Clarence Clemmon's You're A Friend Of Mine
12. Reunion's Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me)
13. Dan Hill's Sometimes When We Touch
14. Dave Koz's You Make Me Smile
15. Elton John's Tiny Dancer
16. Queen's The Show Must Go On
17. Gavin DeGraw's I Don't Want To Be
18. John Mayer's Love Song For No One
19. Les Miserables' On My Own
20. Les Miserables' A Little Fall Of Rain
21. Meredith Brooks' Bitch
22. Nik Kershaw's Wouldn't It Be Good
23. Rascal Flatts' Fast Cars and Freedom
24. Stevie Wonders' Sir Duke
25. Supertramp's The Logical Song
If you want to why I've picked those songs, leave me a message or something. I'd be glad to share the reasoning behind my choices!
I can also be found on LIVEJOURNAL - where I tend to post a variety of stuff and more often. If you ever want to drop by and take a look, you can find my profile here .
You can always read my latest work on my Edit Red Writer Profile
My little corner of the web - check out my writing there!!
Greetings from the Great White North - yes, this really is me.
Bwahahahahaha - I'll get you my dear and your little dog too!

My Interests

As I said before, I probably have too many to REALLY list them all here - and I know if I tried, I'd forget a lot of them. But, I will list a few:

I'd like to meet:

There is a laundry list of people I would looooooooooove to meet:

Stephen King - a lot of people may not like his books, but he's a powerful writer - able to captivate his audience and keep them on the edge of their seats until the very last word... and then leaves them wanting more. I would love to have the opportunity to sit down and talk about writing with him.

Tim Curry - he is a master entertainer who has done it all - television, movies, Broadway and London stage, and recording artist. Every project in which he is involved, he brings his vast experience to but always seems to bring something new to it as well. I would love to discuss his inspirations and how he decides which projects he wants to be involved with.

John Douglas - this man spent years working with the FBI... he was the original criminal profiler. He spend most of his career helping to paint a clearer picture of who the criminal was so that the person may be found quicker. I would love to talk to him about how he got interested in that line of work, what the motivation was to keep him going even after the sickest of serial killers, and how it felt transitioning to civilian life once he retired.

Alan Parson - his ability to look at a piece of music or a band and find ways to make it/them more appealing to an audience has always struck me. I've been a fan of his music since I was little - grew up listening to it all the time because of my mother. And the work he did with bands like Pink Floyd is amazing.

Robin Williams - I would love to just sit down and talk with him about his view of the world. Everyone's view of the world is different because of our experiences - and Robin Williams definitely has a very unique view of the way things are.

Billy Connolly - I'd love to talk to him for the same reason as above with Robin Williams. He's a funny comedian who can mold himself into whatever part he's playing if on television or in a movie.

Quincy Jones - after being such a major influence with a lot of today's popular music, I would love to talk to him about his views of today's music.

Sigmund Freud - if it were popular to speak with him without the need of a seance or ouija board, I think it would be fascinating to sit down and pick the mind of the "Father of Modern Psychology".

Vincent Van Gogh - again, if I didn't need a seance or a ouija board, I would love to talk to him about his inspiration for his art and what it was like as he spiraled downwards into madness, leading him to eventually take his own life.

Every single songwriter in history whose music I enjoy - as a writer, I know inspirations can come from the strangest of places. And I would love to know where their inspirations are drawn from. Sometimes, it's evident - but a lot of the time, it's not.

There are several other people I would love to meet (John Mayer, Adam Levine, Hugh Jackman, Keith Urban, etc.) - but those are mainly because afterwhile, when you're listening to their music or watching them in a movie, it breeds a sense of familiarity (almost like being reacquainted with a lost love).

And no, I didn't forget the people I have met online with which I have become very good, close friends with in our correspondences. You may be last, but you know you're certainly never least.

Music:

Anything - everything! You name it and I'll give it a listen at least once!

Some of the most played music on my mp3 player, my CD player, and on windows media come from the following artist:

John Mayer
Maroon 5
Jason Mraz
Rob Thomas / Matchbox 20
Ezio
Keith Urban
Kenny Chesney
Tim McGraw
Poison
Chris Botti (a VERY sexy Dane turned me onto Chris Botti!! *phwoar*)
Jamie Cullum
Dave Koz
Alan Parsons Project
.38 Special
Joshua Kadison
Death Cab For Cutie
Love Spit Love
Remy Zero
Chemical Brothers
The BeeGees
ABBA
Big & Rich
Billy Joel
Elton John (w00t! This profile has TINY DANCER playing on it!!!)
Black Eyed Peas
Bowling For Soup
Boz Scaggs
Carole King
James Taylor
Electric Light Orchestra
Brad Paisley

... and many others. (For those artists or bands with a link, it links you to a myspace profile so you can sample some of their music. I must spread the music love, my friends!)

I am always on the lookout for new music, though, and try to acquire at least one new song by an artist I had never heard a day.One of my favorite things about myspace is the music profiles - great music from well known artists and just totally awesome music from unsigned artists like some of my myspace friends ( Ernie Halter , Stereo Relation , my dufus big brother's buddy's band The Current , Jake Coco , Clayton Risner , 3rd Side , and this awesome ALASKAN rock group Strept !!!!

If you would like to see what kind of music is playing on my windows media player whenever I'm online, you can take a look at my last.fm site (formerly audioscrobbler .I've also been using Yahoo's Launchcast Radio to try and find new music. My station on there is rather eclectic - take a listen!

Movies:

Hmmmm - I've gotta say I love a good drama. Just don't expect me to cry - I normally don't cry over movies!
As far as comedies go, give me a comedy that actually has a plot - or makes you think - and I'm there. Just don't try to force feed me hackneyed plots starring stand-up comics turned actors because I'll probably be bored!
Some of my favorites (and ones I do suggest people watch):
The Boondock Saints - man, this movie is fantastic. Funny as hell, action-oriented, and sends out a message - clubbing you over the head with it without you realizing it. This one is a definite MUST WATCH!
American Beauty - where can I begin about this film? It was wonderfully filmed with great acting... but the film itself is what drew me in. The story itself is very engrossing. I watch this one at least once every other month if not more often.
Clue - I cannot get enough of this movie. It's hard to describe the draw to this movie unless you've seen it. So - GO SEE IT!
Rocky Horror Picture Show - nuff said!
Bridget Jones Diary - I really think every woman should see this movie (the first one) at least once in their lives. It has elements that every one of us can identify with.
The Fisher King - Robin Williams playing, wonder of wonders, a man who has lost touch with reality. This movie, though, is well made and the story is touching. (And I still have a long ago promised date with someone to run through Central Park at night and lay out in the grass with them, ala The Fisher King).
Star Wars, Episodes 1-6 - yes, I'm a Star Wars geek! Bite me!
My Favorite Year - Peter O'Toole in one of his best performances.
The Shawshank Redemption - some of Stephen King's best writing, almost wholy untouched in the script.
The Green Mile - again, King at his best, writing wise. And Michael Clarke Duncan is awesome as John Coffy.
The Original Kings of Comedy and The Queens of Comedy - these movies are funny as hell.
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood - even my nine year old son loves this one.
The Phantom of the Opera (the new one) - oh my god! I cannot even begin to put into words the power this movie has.
ANY JOHN HUGHES FILM!! GO FIND AND WATCH THEM ALL!!! (*child of the 80s moment ends*)
There are plenty of others that I watch with regularity (Bulworth, The Replacements, the Blade movies, Underworld, etc.), but the above list is a good starter for some great movie nights.

Television:

Television has caused most imaginations to atrophy. Television has been substituted for culture and spending time with one another - no, I don't watch much television.
I just heard this one and had to add it: "Television is important because it distracts people from the truth."
On the off-chance I do have the tv on, it's not in front of some sitcom. I normally have the digital radio or some music channel on (hey, I'm a huge music geek - what can I say?)
A good documentary can catch my interest pretty easily if I run across one.
With a ten year old little boy, we watch a lot of animal specials (can't beat SHARK WEEK on the Discovery Channel, man!)
Another favorite of ours if we're actually watching tv together are the cooking shows - but that's only because we watch together and then go try out a recipe together in the kitchen.
I must admit I do have a few television addictions. I am thoroughly addicted to House, Criminal Minds, and Numb3rs!! All quirky, thought-provoking shows - and House is just hilarious as hell! (It doesn't hurt that Hugh Laurie is like, major eye candy to watch on that show, either!)

Books:

Some of the books you can always find about my desk or room are:Brain Droppings, Napalm and Silly Putty, and When Will Jesus Bring the Porkchops - all three by George Carlin
Anatomy of Motive and several others by John Douglas.
How I Accidentally Joined The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy (And Found Inner Peace) by Harry Stein. This book is really interesting. I picked it up while working on a paper about bias in the media, and it really captivated me for some reason.Writer's Digest's ... Market - whatever guide it is, whether the publishers or literary agents or whatever - the current year's guide can be found right by my desk.
Edith Hamilton's Mythology
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
You'll find titles by Stephen King, Laurell K. Hamilton, David Eddings, Christine Feehan, Johanna Lindsey, and scores of others. I also own a lot of true crime, biographies, and essay collections - along with my poetry and short story collections.
I am as eclectic in my reading as I am in my music tastes.

Heroes:

I admire individuals for individual traits. I've never really had any real "heroes".
