All Hail the Asgardian God of Thunder!

About Me

I am forever thankful for the wonderful people in my life. I have a terrific wife, a zany family, and enough fine friends to start an army. If I didn't live in a world dominated by small-minded politics and prejudices, I think I could be perfectly satisfied with this existence.
Speaking of which, I hope everyone out there knows that you should

Those guys wouldn't lie to you. After all, have they ever violated anyone else's trust?
HELP ME FEED MY CHILD
CLICK ON MY BOOK TO GO TO AMAZON.COM
Disclaimer: Tucking a copy of Trailer Park Trash & Vampires beneath your arm and strutting about will impress no one. The author suggests buying a copy of The Fountainhead for such purposes. Just don't read it, because unfortunately it provides about as much entertainment value as a root canal. TPT&V, on the other hand, is GUARAN-DAMN-TEED to thrill and chill in equal measures.
In fact, if you buy a copy and you're not 100% satisfied, just drop me an email at [email protected] and I will sympathize. I would say I would give you a refund, but odds are your money will have already provided Alaina with diapers. She's not responding to the potty just yet. Well, actually she likes to put her hands in it, but you know what I mean. Regardless, if you like the title, you'll like the book. So buy a copy! If you reach out to me, I will send you a page from one of the original drafts.
My name is James Wayland, but you can call me Jimmy. Just don't call me Jamie unless I love you. In addition to teaching TV Communications at Bassett High School, I write novels, screenplays, comic scripts, songs, reviews, obnoxious lists, and poetry. I am a regular contributor for RVA (check VA's coolest publication out at www.RVAmag.com) and you can view a wide assortment of my work under my blogs. Some would say that I rather enjoy the sound of my own voice, but to be completely honest I would rather read my own fiction.
Speaking of which, I have self published my first novel, Trailer Park Trash & Vampires, which is available at Amazon.com. Don't worry kiddies, daddy will be batting clean-up in the big leagues before long, but this makes my work available to you in the meantime. I know you saw the banner above, but television has taught me that there is no better advertising strategy than redundancy. So, help me feed my kid by buying a copy of TRAILER PARK TRASH & VAMPIRES, which is currently available ON AMAZON.COM in a limited edition 7 x 10 format. Repress coming soon! Unless Random House calls first . . .
In addition to my work with the written word, I am the vocalist for Gods Aren't We All, and I enjoy working with film and video. My independent short "Male-Bonding" is (still) in the latter stages of post-production. More to come on that later. I feel another migraine coming on just thinking about it.
HEADLINE: YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST
I'll be helming a feature length indie this summer. Give me a shout out if you're creative, productive, and interested in contributing. If your name is John Reinhold, Tony Harris, Ben Muri, Matt Smith, Robbie McIntyre, Matt Joyce, or Adam Till, you should expect to be involved. The boys are going to war again . . .
I am always interested in taking on new projects and furthering my creative ability. Those looking to get something done should message me. Those looking to talk should head out to a coffee shop somewhere.
I live in Henry County, Virginia, with my beautiful wife, Kristen, and our lovely little girls, Alaina Rachel and Taryn Grace.
Though young and sometimes given to fits of outlandish behavior, Alaina has already set her sights on world domination. I have provided her with a stellar genetic code, and I think her chances of success are good.
Her sister Taryn has taken a less daring approach to life thus far. She enjoys taking short naps, long naps, and sometimes spices things up by taking an even longer nap. Her mother and I appreciate this philosophy as we too enjoy the nightly bliss commonly called sleep.
I like to think of myself as Odin's favorite son. I know there's a lot of confusion about this, but Thor is just a guy with a hammer. A liar with a hammer to be completely honest, but he is hell on wheels at a bar. Regardless, I'm the one who controls the weather.

Television:

Modern television has little or no intellectual value and consists of a larger margin of advertising than I can be satisfied with. If I couldn't fast-foward past the commercials on my DVR, I probably wouldn't watch anything at all. Truthfully, the only thing I am interested in so far as TV is concerned is sports. Reality TV bores me and I haven't been able to truly embrace a show since HBO closed the coffin on Tales From the Crypt.
Still, I've got sports, and that's where the boob tube continues to shine. Don't even get me started on football. I think the NFL puts all the greatest attributes of humanity (along with bone-crunching violence and lots of grown men shouting) on display and I place it on a pedestal far above all other things television.
Oh, and The Ultimate Fighter, which is not Reality TV.
And if it is, then I guess I'm willing to accept Reality TV which concludes with a full contact MMA battle. Serra rocks!
