About Me

after devouring and digesting the offerings of music's best songwriters, we were hungry for more. in the spirit of consumption and creation, the bitter herbs sprung forth with the hopes of leaving a trail of morsels for those who find meaning in a well turned phrase.r.m. halpirn, the wits behind this operation, had been writing songs for years and saving them under the mattress, waiting for a rainy day. a master of procrastination, rainy days came and went and the songs remained where he left them. seeminlgy, it was always raining too hard or not enough. after countless rounds of friendly cajolery, r.m. was convinced by admirers to leave the comforts of anonymity and begin the task of recording his catalogue. he enlisted a few friends to help and these song sketches were launched into space.drawing inspiration from wordsmiths like bob dylan, lou reed, phil ochs and elvis costello, the songs of the bitter herbs simmer with a soupcon of wit, bewilderment and hope in the form of three + minute ruminations set to music. the band doesn't portend to solve any ancient riddles, only to artfully restate them.stay in touch as new songs are added and older songs are perfected. the bitter herbs have just sprouted but are growing. the evolution will not be televised.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
