I always had a thing for music. I started listening to what ever was playing on my parents record player (the first song I remember signing was "Elvira" by the Oak Ridge Boys). My dad listened to all the country artist of that time, Waylin Jennings & Kenny rogers are the ones that stick out the most. He also listened to Bob Seager and CCR. I remember my step-mom liking the Beatles and the Beach Boys. I'm sure there were plenty of other records being played, but those are the dominant memories.
I moved to Portland, OR in 2000 and have never even thought about moving back. Missouri will always be my childhood home & the home of my family & the home to memory.
I've played in a couple of bands since my migration. Played drums for two, bass for like a hundred, and sang/played acoustic for some. Nothing serious.I'm currently writing and recording songs with my best friend (who is also from Missouri) under the name Two Step Slumber . Check us out and write a comment if you like it (it encourages us).
We were originally gonna be called Porch, cause we did a lot of covers and made them more bluesy (like a deftones song). And there was already a band named Porch.
AND I'm helping my wife write some stuff and record it. she's amazing. Kinda different from Two Step Slumber but I love being creative with her.
She's got some artwork out there also. You should check it out. Of course, if you know us you've probably seen some. We're gonna put up a page soon (I think) with some pieces.
All in all, I love to write music. I love to create. The more chances I get to do it, I will. You know what they say, one life to live. That's why I chose the quote in the headline.
Hit me up some time. I always write back, so does Jess. We love to talk to new friends as well as old.

Other Stuff -----
This is supposedly my worldview.
.. I scored as Cultural Creative.
Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. Apparently, I'm a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. I'm very spiritual, even if I am not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

and in case you're wondering what my Theological Worldview is, it's...
..Emergent/Postmodern. I'm Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. I feel alienated from older forms of church, I don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.
