Shizzle
Who is Shizzle?
I expect you think you know the answer, but whatever popped into your head, whether it be “The one that spits in his native Jamaican tongueâ€, “That boy who’s 10th on the ‘any country, any genre’ MySpace charts†or “The one who got his name from doing that shizzle-ma-nizzle dance at all the ravesâ€, I can assure you, this young man's musical tale, is much deeper, much more interesting and much more worth reading into than 99% of other urban artists.
Why?
Because it is one of the fastest growing and sturdiest careers a musical artist in the UK could wish for.
Hailing from the late, but well known crew ‘East Connection’, Shizzle took his first steps in creating his mark on the UK music industry in 2000.
Shizzle was a regular face on legendary urban radio station, DeJa Vu in the days when Roll Deep spat along side Nasty Crew, Dizzee Rascal passed the Mic to Crazy Titch and Kano was just another MC whose name had hardly spread outside of East London. These are now remembered as the best, most significant and fundamental days of the Grime music industry, and Shizzle was there, working hard as an up and coming musician.
It wouldn’t be until ‘Realion’ hit our TV screens in August 2004, that Shizzle would really stand out from the crowd. He helped create the line-up and then spat along side Lethal B, JME, Ryder, Babycham and many more on the track, that is still played on Channel U today, and a strong contender for the title ‘best UKG collaboration’.
This gave the whole country a chance to see what London talent was really about and set Shizzle off on the road to gaining his star status that we know in 07.
Working with a variety of artists from Napper, who was his musical initiator and is now his best friend, to LOC, the creators of, smash hit, and most popular ring tone of the decade ‘the crazy frog tune, enabled Shizzle to circulate his music around means of both underground and established media types, widening his audience, and of course his fan base.
His music has had support and air play from Kiss 100, Choice FM, BBC 1Xtra and MTV Base to name but a few, leading to performance demand up and down England as well as other countries. All of this has resulted in an interest from the female species that most men in their mid twenties could merely wish for! He was recently the winner in an online vote, that aimed to find the ‘most attractive MC', even though other well known contenders put up good game, in true Shizzle style, he still managed to nab the top spot.
A wise and looked up to artist, today Shizzle looks back on five years in the music industry, with the attitude “There is still room for improvementâ€.
He is an all-round artist, who can not only improve our listening pleasure with his catchy music, but also has a talent for drawing life like pictures, some of which you can see on his webpage www.myspace.com/shizzleno1.
He says his target audience is ‘everyone’ and prides himself on putting his heart and soul into his music by staying true to his Jamaican roots.
Concentration at the moment is going on the promotion of his debut mix CD ‘Best of Both’ which is out now, and available to buy from all good retailers. DJ Ironik features on this, true reflection of versatility and cultural representation along with close friends and good producers.
