About Me

Good evening, I am Rachel. I play cello. I make stuff. I'm a serious fan of cute things, funny things, small things, Asian things, detailed things, and sans-traffic highways. Oh yes, and Craig's list. I have a fear of dead fish (and other dead slimy things), fish-out-of-water, cockroaches, and fast escalators. I play cello. I'm in a Los Angeles-based Harry Partch cover-band called "Partch" that I still play with. In that group I play kithara and adapted viola. I'm also in another LA-based quartet with percussionist Brad Dutz. He's awesome. We recorded an album this summer called "When Manatees Attack" and you can get a copy at www.braddutz.com. We're also featured in Jazz Times (May 2007), which is a nice fancy thing I can add to my C.V.

She’s Korean!

Last week I played cello for a children's choir (4th and 5th graders) down in Brookline. They were doing a holiday concert in a shopping mall as part of a season-hype-thing. Anyway, I had no rehearsal...

Ants of the east. And more.

Welcome to the east, Rachel, where the air doesn't allow any moisture to evaporate, and the beads of sweat running down your neck can easily be mistaken for an insect crawling down your shirt. And/or ...

My dear neighbor, Lally, just moved out of our building. She gave me a bunch of stuff before moving, and one of items was a book called Brews and Potions: a Hand Book of Remedies, Spells, Elixirs, Cor...
