About Me

Hi I'm Patrick,
Lead singer/guitarist/songwriter in Manchester Rock 4 piece The Valentine Coup (See www.myspace.com/thevalentinecoup). I was born and raised in Uppermill, Saddleworth to Christine and Pat O'Hare along with my sister Tina. I now live in Manchester.
My earliest memories of playing an instrument was a harmonica we had around the house when I was about 2 years old. I wish I could say I stuck with it but I just used it to do robot impressions most of the time! This was also around the time I caught the guitar bug, and could regularly be found in front of the TV with a tennis racket "playing" along to Christopher Lillicrap (now theres a name! Remember his show "We'll Tell You A Story"?).
The first instrument I learned, like many others was the recorder in Primary School. Losing interest in playing 'Little Brown Jug' over and over again, I started on the Trumpet when I was 7, and moved onto Cornet at 11. I played with Dobcross Youth Band (Brass) right up until my first year of 6th Form. It was then I realised that I couldn't sing with this thing stuck in me gob! So Dad (professional singer Pat O'Hare www.myspace.com/patohare) took me to my Uncle Kev (Guitarist in the Karl Denver Trio "Wimoweh!") who sold me (well my Dad, cheers Pop!) my first acoustic, an 'Eko'. Since then at 18, I've hardly put it down! In more recent years I have started to dabble with Drums and Bass too.
On my page here you will find some acoustic versions of The Valentine Coup originals. 'Wayne' & 'Caramel Loading Sky' you will find the band versions on our page also. 'Our Own Entertainment' is a regular in our set but we are still in the process of recording the full band arrangement. There is also a version of Hendrix's 'Red House' from back when The Valentine Coup were a blues band (Blue Thatcher). Hope you like them. Some more useless info below.
What Gear? Peavey Delta Blues Amplifier (with SKG wireless unit, Ibinez Tube Screamer pedal, Boss Flanger Peddle), Eric Clapton Signature Fender Stratocaster and/or California Series Stratocaster, Gibson SG Classic with P90 pick-ups, Takamine 'Tam 46 C' Electro Acoustic.
Previous bands? IBS, Leonard McGintey and The Seaguls (with Paul Hagan of Liverpool's 'Amsterdam' and Nick Dolley of 'The Monzas').
Enjoy every day like its your last!
Keep on keepin' on,
Paddy x
