I recently graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a BFA in Film (with a focus ..-motion animation), which, so very surprisingly, turned out to be less than helpful in landing a job in the animation field. So, after a long year of peddling jewelry at hospitals, I am back in school at UWM, this time earning an MFA in Film, which I predict will be just about as helpful as the previous degree. On the upside, though, it does provide me with the opportunity to produce more of my own films- though much of my time is taken up with teaching a class called "Concepts in Media Arts Production."
More than anything, my experiences in school have led me on a crusade to praise and produce work that values craft over concept. Cheers to all those who make experimental/independent work that has integrated the two, and resisted the urge to simply present your "concept" as the art itself.
I am currently working on a music video with Hired Geeks (myspace.com/hiredgeeks), for their new song, Here We Are. The video is scheduled to be completed in the next month.
