I hope everyone learned from what happened during Hurricane Katrina, and will have a back up plan during the next emergency. Our government was not even prepared to save humans.
If you haven't already, buy an ID tag with your name and phone number for each of your pets.
(For a collar to fit properly you should be able to slide two fingers comfortably underneath it when putting it on your pet.Check it frequently.)
Even if your pets are indoors, you never know when an emergency might happen and you aren't home.
(Or get them microchipped.)

This is the best sites of its kind I have seen. People who keep their dogs out on chains all of their life really shouldn't have them. If dogs don't socialize with humans, they become dangerous and more prone to bite. Dogs are pack animals. Living alone outside is a sad unhappy life for them.

I would hate for this pup to end up with someone like Michael Vick!....and Cincinnati is so crazy about pit bulls :-(

My puppy got out one day when I was at work, and a lady found him and brought him to the SPCA, as one of the employees who works there took him home that day, and gave him to one of his friends. This lady responded to our lost puppy posters, and that led my search down to the SPCA. However, he is not there. I spent all day Wednesday, and all day Thursday down there, just waiting for some information but I recieved very little. The last information I heard about him was he was sold to someone down on Lin St, downtown. I know that is not very promising but I can't give up hope yet. Koa (my puppy's name) is everything to me, and my oldest dog misses him very very much. Please help bring our family back together. I will gladly buy him back no questions asked, I just need to know who has him! He is a male pit bull puppy, and just turned 12 weeks old today. He looks black in the pictures, but in person you can see he has real dark brown tones in his coat. His name is Koa, and he is such a little sweetheart. He was not wearing a colar when he got loose, unfortunatly, he HATES wearing a colar and would constantly try and get out of it, and I didn't want him to end up choking himself when I was at work. = (. The only difference about him in the pictures are the pink spot on his nose, is gone. He grew out of it. I know the pictures are old, but they are the only ones I have on my computer. He is A LOT bigger than that now. BUT PLEASE HELP ME FIND MY BABY. ITS SOOO HARD TO LOOSE A PET, AND I WANT NOTHING ELSE BUT TO BRING HIM BACK HOME! The people that have doggie doors in every room of their houses to save dogs and cats because someone else was greedy and was breeding their dog for money.

When I confront people who breed their dogs, I always hear the same sorry story:
"But my dog is a purebred." (in a really defiant tone) I tell them to look up their dog's breed on Petfinder.This is where the extra dogs & cats end up:

A few weeks ago, I was writing to my friend in Brazil. We were discussing the 50,000 dogs in China that were killed. She said that people come to their houses in rural areas and give their pets innoculations. She asked me:
"Why are Americans so preoccupied with dogs looking a special way? Five million dogs and cats are killed in your country every year. America needs to crack down on breeding."

I couldn't agree more!
