I'd like to meet:
Someone who can tell me what the speed of dark is.
I like meeting all kinds. Everyone has a story. I enjoy conversations ranging from "why people do what they do" to Beastie Boys lyrics. So have at it.
Music:
Autonomy, Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, Tool, NIN, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Peter Gabriel, A Perfect Circle, Beck, Radiohead, The White Stripes, Johnny Cash, Cake, Faith No More,Mr. Bungle, STP, Beastie Boys, System of a down, rollins band, Queens of the Stone Age...and whatnot. That's all I can think of right now.
Movies:
Oh! Yes, movies...there are so many. I like anything with a good villan in it. Four words...Emperor in Star Wars. Great villan. Or how about the lovable villan? Like V in V for Vendetta. By the way...if you haven't seen V for Vendetta - you should. It's more than you think.I like funny movies. I can still watch Zoolander even though I've already seen it a bajillion times. (that's a lot!)Office Space, but everyone says that. The serious movies like Seven Years in Tibet are great. Crash a favorite for it showing some perspective.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is worth your time whether you've already seen it or not.Shawshank Redemption. The Shining. Kill Bill. Edward Scissorhands. Mommie Dearest. The Crow.
Television:
Oh yes...Mr. Derren Brown:Derren picking up women:Tricky Derren...a bit dark:This is SO funny!!!
..
Books:
I often recommend books that can be found in the "New Age/Spirituality" or "Zen/Eastern Philosophy" section. Alan Watts "Become What You Are", Eckhart Tolle "The Power of Now" and "The New Earth", Mantak Chia "Awakening Healing Energy Through the Tao", Neale Donald Walsch "Conversations with God", Tom Robbins - pretty much any of his books promises to be clever and witty. Seemingly contrary to those types of books - I liked "The God Delusion" and "The Jesus Mysteries". If you are Christian, please be grown up and open minded enough to not take offense if someone says they liked "The God Delusion". It's very intelligently written. I also like Diana Gabaldon and her "Outlander" series, and almost everything by John Irving. He has a lot of good stuff out...a little dark, but well written. He can make the most horrible circumstances ironically humorous. Steven Levitt's "Freakonomics" is a good one. Anything Amy Tan. "The Poisionwood Bible" is a wonderful, wonderful book. You'll just hate the father in it! What a self rightous jerk! Oh...if ya wanna really get irritated with a fictional character...read "Forever Amber". Unbelieveable! "The Giver" is a good short story that takes you into a weird little world. Oh, and if you saw the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" movie, but haven't read the book you are missing out. The movie was alright, but it didn't do the book justice. Anything by Steinbeck is worth your time.
Heroes:
The person who invented the pillow...what a good, good man.
No seriously....mmmmm...pillowsEddie Izzard.. width="425" height="350" ....
