Peter Daily is a singer-songwriter whose home base is in Los Angeles, though his roots lay deep in the heart of Texas. Peter Daily comes from a musical family, and was particularly influenced by his father, who sang in a gospel group out of Dallas in the 70s. Peter spent much of his childhood years on the group’s tour bus. Daily inherited his father’s knack for performance early on; he began singing in front of crowds when he was 4 years old, and soon after, got his first drum kit.
When he was 10 years old, Peter put together a band with his cousin and they
performed at talent shows, school assemblies, coffee shops and open mics.
During his teenage years, Peter Daily began teaching himself to play piano, and
eventually picked up lessons from a blind pianist, who left a permanent mark on
Peter’s musical path. While Daily was playing drums in a hip-hop band called Ill
Harmonics (Tooth and Nail), he met Pigeon John on tour. He later began
drumming for Pigeon John in 2004.
As long as Peter Daily can remember he has been writing songs, but in the past
two years, the songwriting picked up with more of an urgency. While on a recent
break from Pigeon John shows, Daily was at home and sat down with the piano, a
pen and pad, and he began laying down tracks that would become his debut
release. During his travels with Pigeon John, he’d find himself always getting
asked about who he is and what he does. “Who is Peter Daily†came to be the
theme in writing the record.
Peter Daily’s music has threads of 60's pop, alternative rock and soul, with
particular inspiration drawn from the arrangements of songs during the 60s. He
played drums, Rhodes and pianos, as well as synthesizer programming. Live, he
sticks to the ’73 Rhodes, with other musicians on drums, guitar and bass.
In his touring experience, Peter Daily has shared stages with artists such as
Matisyahu, Of Montreal, RJD2, MuteMath, Peeping Tom and Miho Hatori.
Peter Daily’s debut EP, “Who is Peter Daily,†released digitally via iTunes
on January 15, 2008, featuring former Cibo Matto member Miho Hatori, with an LP
to follow Spring 2008 on Sideshow Media Group.
