Louis Cypher

Currently residing in the city of Liverpool, but hailing from the good ode city of Nottingham, Louis Cypher a.k.a Lucid the Converta has been ripping up mics and tearingdown soundsystems for the past 7 years. From supporting classic acts such as Souls of Mischief or rhyming on stage with GZA, Louis Cypher has proven to be an MC with a thirst for perfromace, writiting and recording. Originally in a crew known as The Cliquit Flows with Nottinghams filthiest rapper and producer Dirty Joe and fellow MC's Aztek and Dialogic, The Flows split up after the recording of there one and only NottNumb e.p. due to artistic differences. Many a drunken night was still spent spitting at nights such as Prescription and at OMG at the Czeck Bar with Nottinghams finest such as C-mone, Birdy Mac and MC 90.. Many drunken cyphers later and the Converta had linked up with fellow Notts MC, Opticus Ryme and MC/Producer Pete 1st Blood, eventually leading to the formation of there crew Blood, Cypher 'n' Ryme (Mixtape on the way). Cypher and Opticus then went on to both appear on Pete 1st Bloods Beats for the People release, recording classic tracks such as Am i Blue? and Lifes Grimm. Taking advantage of the well developed and inspirational music scene in Nottingham at the time, The 1st Blood Fam live band was formed. Utillising some of the finest live musicians in the city, they recruited members of the Foncheros and Team Hughs as well as Bahinyon Bailey and DJ Dan Rattamatic. And with additional production and instrumentation from Emkah and Kumaratchi they formed a musical force to be reckoned with. In 2004 Cypher decided for a multitude of reasons that a change of scenery was required and began studying Popular Music in Liverpool (although he still records and performs with 1st Blood Fam) After a little time in Liverpool Louis Cypher linked fellow NW heavyweight MC's Benny Diction, Ro Jista and Oscilate, and in the summer of 05 The Punning Clan was formed. Now with Tony Skank, 2wo Toes and DJ Average Joe joining the ranks as well, The Punning Clan are currently utilising there skills to bring a fresh take on the U.K hip-hop scene. Louis Cypher is currently working on his 'Twisted Teachings' solo project with production from 1st Blood, The Blood, Cypher 'n' Ryme mixtape (and forthcoming album), The Punning Clan album (as well as appearences on Punning Clan members solo projects) recording for the forthcoming 1st Blood release 'Blood drop agenda' (which is getting released on Tricky and Chris Blackwells newly formed Brown Punk label) aswell as perfoming across the country with either The 1st Blood fam or The Punning Clan
