About Me

Tha Truth is a political/alternative rapper and activist known around the Philadelphia area for advocating for an end to imperialism, poverty, corruption, and discrimination.
He has performed in concerts and been featured as a speaker/presenter/performer in numerous venues and for a vast array of causes. Among these appearances Tha Truth performed at “The People’s March for Peace and Justice” in Newark, NJ where he shared the stage with Amy Goodman of “Democracy Now!” and Congressman Jon Conyers (one of the initators of HR 676/the Universal Health Care bill). He was also featured as a special guest performer along with M-1 of Dead Prez at the 2008 People's Peace Conference at Rutgers University Law School in Newark, NJ.
In 2007 he made a presentation about the importance of progressive, political music at The Green Party of The United States’ Convention in Reading, PA, which also featured former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader. In November of 2007 Tha Truth performed at the ISO Conference at Columbia University in NYC. In the same month he performed in the Iraq Veterans Against The War (IVAW) benefit concert in Philadelphia and at the Worker's World National Convention in New York. Aditionally, Tha Truth performed in "Drop Beats Not Bombs" at Rutgers University.
In other appearances, Tha Truth spoke twice at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, He performed at The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA as part of an equality event fundraiser, and he was also one of the artists who took part in the “Rock the Rulers” concert outside the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.
Environmental benefit events Tha Truth has been featured in include concerts at Pennsylvania’s Cedar Brook Middle School Earth Day Festival and “Arts in The Park” in Elkins Park, PA.
Tha Truth put out his debut album “Tha Civil Rights Movement” independently in 2006. He sold 1,000 copies mostly at his shows and on the streets of Philadelphia, NJ, and DC. Lyrics from “Tha Civil Rights Movement,” examine corporate monopolies, the Iraq war, global warming, racism, sexism, materialism, poverty, conformity, and negativity in today’s rap industry.
His follow up album “Tha Civil Rights Movement Part II” was released on October 16th 2007. Tha Truth's lyrics on this album expose corporate news conglomerates, propaganda, religious hypocrisy, CIA and right wing terrorism, Co-Intel Pro, Blackwater, imperialism, the environment, and discrimination of all forms. Other themes of the album include the story of The Camden 28, the drug war, and universal healthcare.
As a writer, Tha Truth has had articles published in newspapers such as The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Courier Post (New Jersey), and The Central Record (New Jersey). He wrote about volunteering for a piece published by The American Cancer Society in Philadelphia, and he also wrote articles about education published in The Hispanic Outlook Magazine.
Tha Truth is a graduate of Rowan University and took graduate courses at Rutgers University (Camden). In the late 90’s he competed in and won a number of power lifting competitions. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and currently resides in Lindenwold, NJ. His onstage performances usually include activist/breakdancer “Why.” Why, who is also a music video director & photographer, directed Tha Truth’s music video for the song “F Bush.”
