Forgotten Suns

Reinverted Funk Soul Fusion

About Me

FORGOTTEN SUNS
Forgotten Suns are a four piece funk rock outfit hailing from Sydney, NSW Australia.
They infuse melodic soul with funk, soaring chorus lines and guitar solos to produce a unique sound which they describe as 'vanglorious' .
Formed in late 2005, they became finalists in the Jim Beam National Band Comp, after only four weeks of writing together. They were then asked back to play at the University of Western Sydney orientation week. Realising that free funk visions from the planet melquann had realigned their fates with this early success, they hit the studio to record a demo EP in early 2006. They enlisted a session drummer, William Christophy, to perform on the EP who was caught up in the sonic transducing vibe and then joined the band as a full time member.
They have since been asked to play at various venues including The Metro Theatre (EMERGENZA AUSTRALIAN FINALISTS 2007), The Gaelic Club, Agincourt Hotel, Paddy Maguires, The Lansdowne Hotel, Mona Vale Hotel, Fitzroy Hotel, Vic On The Park, Hotel Bondi, The Collector Hotel, Fairfield Showground, City RSL, Liverpool PCYC, Club 77, The University of Western Sydney, Headquarters, Sandringham, Annandale Hotel, Bar Broadway, Cat and Fiddle, Excelsior (Surry Hills & Glebe), and Mandarin Club, selling out every copy of their initial demo EP.
Band Members -
Vocals: Patrick Davis spent his former years freestyling in various electronic collaborations and writing songs as a solo acoustic performer. His vocal style can be described as soul influenced rock combined with syncopated vocal rhythms and the ability to freestyle, originating from his love of hip-hop and electronica.
Guitar: Tye Pennington's inspiration for becoming a guitarist came from the legendary stylings of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, John Frusciante, Jeff Buckley and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He combined his experience in both live bands and formal musical training to create a unique funkrock fused sound, an audio volcano that is the backbone of Forgotten Suns' original sound.
Drums: William Christophy is one of the hardest and fastest hitters around, Willy is well known around the music scene as a drumming teacher, session drummer and author of "The Drummer's Encyclopaedia", and with that territory comes versatility and adaptability. He is well versed in all styles of drumming including jazz, rock, funk and metal. He has played over 500 gigs and is clinically insane.
Bass: Lachlan Hart's bass playing has been described as melodic, rhythmic and funky. He cites many influences from the styles of rock, funk, reggae and punk, and combined these with a classically trained ear. Using slap, finger and pick techniques to achieve a unique sound, Lachlan's value as a band member and songwriter is undeniable.
