Fresh out of an untouched market, Cracka Lack’s name is creating a buzz all over Lansing, MI. With his unique style and creative delivery, he plans to put his home town on the map. “When people think of Michigan music they think of Detroit, but no one thinks about Lansing.†Lack says.
On July 24, 1988 Cracka Lack AKA Nicholas Bozzo was born in Lansing MI. He experimented with different styles of music through his youth years. When he was fifteen he started his rap career. While being in a in house studio with close friend Treed AKA Tyler Reed he was asked to write a verse for a song. While Treed was just starting to rap, Lack decided “why notâ€. After the song was made they decided to start a group with another unknown artist Drewface AKA Andrew Kinney. The group was called Deuces. Using a ten dollar computer mic and beats that Lack and Treed were just learning how to make through Fruity Loops, the Deuces came out with there first CD mid-way through there sophomore year of high school.
Instead of starting a second Deuces album the group split up. Lack and Treed stayed together though and picked up Treed’s cousin, C-Mill$ AKA Charles Milner. The three now, sixteen year olds, started a group called Chemistry. Then they meet a upcoming producer through school, J Knox AKA Jamal Knox. The group started recording and had over twenty songs made, but never came out with a CD. And soon broke up due to different schedules.
At this time Lack decided to start his solo career. At age seventeen he purchased professional recording equipment and started his own studio, Fresh Productions. With two years of experience now with Fruity Loops, Lack’s beat making skills had grown dramatically. He started making a lot of beats and writing songs. In January of 06’ he turned in his first solo song “Jump†to the local Hip-Hop radio station for a local artist competition called “Battle of the Beatsâ€. The song lost, but with the radio play, he started getting a little recognition as a solo artist.
He then kept recording songs, and put together a fifteen track album, “Highly Anticipatedâ€. He released the album May 22nd, 2006. With his ambition and drive, he went around selling CD’s by hand around town. Around the same time he had his first show where he opened for Twista in Jackson, MI.
Next at age eighteen, he teamed up with old group member C-Mill$ and recorded his first Mixtape. “Round 1 The Mixtape†which came out September 29, 2006.
After the Mixtape was released Lack started working on his second album “Hate Me Nowâ€. His first single off the album was “Jump On Itâ€, a club song produced by J Knox. He submitted the song to another “Battle of the Beats†competition. The song won several weeks in a row, and was retired, due to consecutive winning.
He got a demo tape together and met a concert promoter from Jackson, MI, Nelly Nell. Nelly Nell helped get him shows at The Rocket Night Club in Jackson, MI. After just a few shows at The Rocket Night Club he caught the attention of the club owner/number one concert promoter in Michigan, Todd Sanford with Hot Toddy Productions. Sanford choose Lack to open for Petey Pablo on February 24th of 2007 and Bone Crusher on May 27th of 2007. He also did several other local shows, such as performing for a halftime show at his old high school.
Lack released his anticipated album "Hate Me Now" mid summer of 2007. The album got a lot of exposer for the young artist. "After seeing the hype I caused from the CD I was really determined."
On December 12, 2007 Lack released a 28 track mixtape that was hosted on a large website that hosts mixtapes for free. Within the first day the mixtape "Free Agent" had over a hundred listens.
Being what Lack calls a "Rapaholic" he will release his third album "Cracka Lack Music" in February of 2008. The album consists of nothing but "hit records" he states. "I wasn't working so all I wanted to do was music. I wrote and recorded my mixtape and the album in about 2 months. I just felt inspired at the time so I had alot to say."
Being a rapper/producer he started working on projects for other local artist. The first album he produced was C-Mill$’ “Mill$ Styleâ€. He produced eight of the seventeen songs and executive produced the entire project. He produced two songs off the Jugernaut AKA Jerrod Hewlett’s album “Undisputedâ€. The songs he Produced were the “Intro†and “Late Nites/Eyes On Youâ€. He also executive produced J-Culli AKA John Culliver’s solo debut album “Still Reserveâ€.
“ Music is something that I don’t play around with. So anything I do that has to do with music I’m gonna go 110%, and I don’t care what no one says.†Lack states. “There’s no question if I’m gonna make it or not, its just a matter of time. I have a lot to prove to people.â€
