BIOGRAPHY

Kat Arney has been making music since before she was tall enough to reach the piano keys. Now still not tall enough to reach the keys, she plays harp, clarinet, bass clarinet, spoons and more or less anything else she can get her hands on.

Kat is often found playing with the Cambridge-based eclectic acoustic/Indian outift Sunday Driver Sunday Driver , but freely admits to being a complete musical whore who will go with anyone ( email me or message me for session work!). Also available for weddings, funerals and Bar Mitzvahs.

Currently she's working with Digitonal, The Shadow Orchestra , Bussetti and others. She recently contributed harp and bass clarinet to Kat Vipers' critically acclaimed "Summer Bloody Time" EP. She's even dabbled in the world of drum'n'bass (clarinet) with MoeFoe , and recently recorded with The Beaufort Scale .

Kat also occasionally plays in the world's first harp-hop outift, Kingdom of Meerkats, featuring members of Belleruche , appears twice a month at the Snooty Fox in North London with gypsy jazz band Ultrafox, and has her own classical harp spot in the Spitz Bistro in East London.

In her real life, Kat's a professional science communicator for Cancer Research UK , and in her spare time she's a freelance writer and radio broadcaster with the Naked Scientists . She is also an avid knitter. Kat's hobby is staying awake for extended periods of time.

Personal motto: Relaxation is for wusses.

Music and knitting

Thank you for the music - Bussetti's final gig

Well that was sad.  After years together, Bussetti finally split up. I've been playing with the bad for a year, maybe more, and in that time it's been great fun. To be honest, I'm more like a hug...
