European summer festival tour with Bootsy Collins!

About Me

I just want start by saying Congratulations to my very good friend, incredible guitarist, producer and awesome band mate Larry Mitchell, who along with Robert Mirabal won a GRAMMY on Sun Feb 10th for their album "Johnny Whitehorse - Totemic Flute Chants", I am so happy and excited for him and I can proudly say one of my best friends is a Grammy winner, way to go Larry!!!
Before we get to my Bio stuff let me explain my songs. The 1st song is a brand new recording by Michael Muldoon, myself and Larry Mitchell, just as we did on the Muldoon CD the original idea comes from Michael, he then brings it to me and the song is arranged, then we take it to Larry's studio in Santa Fe New Mexico where we record it with Larry producing, engineering, playing guitar and bass. The next 2 songs are from the album "Muldoon" by Michael Muldoon, we co-wrote the songs and the album was produced by Larry Mitchell, I play all the keys on the whole album (the album is available at iTunes, CD Baby, Lou's Records 434 North Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, Ca www.lousrecords.com).
I am proud to say we have been nominated for 3 New Mexico music awards, "best album", "best song" and "best re make". The 4th track is by Lindsey Troy (myspace.com/lindseytroy) from her "My Midnight" album, I play piano on this. The 5th track is from the latest Gregory Page (myspace.com/gregorypage) album "Daydreaming At Night" I play piano on this.
OK, now onto the bit where I tell everyone about myself.
I was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England where I lived for 28 years, then I was given the chance to move to San Diego, California where I met and married my gorgeous wife Wendy and have lived ever since.

I have been playing keyboards, organ and piano since I was 9 and got my first pro gig at 15, since then my life has always been surrounded with music. I play and have played keyboards both live and in the studio for numerous artists and bands including Gregory Page (www.gregorypage.com).
The GP album "Love Made Me Drunk" is now available worldwide on Seedling/Pinnacle Records.
see video below..
The latest Gregory Page release is "Daydreaming At Night". On this album (as I do on his last 4) I'm playing Piano, Electric Piano, Organ's, Glock, Vibes, Celeste, Synth, Mellotron, any extra orchestral stuff that is required and whatever else we came up with that we thought sounded cool. My pal Michael Muldoon, Tom Broseau (Fat Cat Records/Loveless Records, 2 albums with me ..s "Empty Houses Are Lonely" just released in England and Grand Forks just released across the USA), Angela Correa, the Urban Gypsys (www.urban-gypsys.com)
see video below...
Mad Dogs And Englishmen, Blue Tomato, The Larry Mitchell Band (www.larrymitchell.com), The Troys (Elektra Records), both Lindsey and Anna Troy's subsequent solo projects, Anya Marina, Erica Davis, Steve Poltz, The Rugburns (see my photo's for piccies from our NYE 2006 Rugburns gig).
............................................................ ............................................................ .................
I co-wrote the soundtrack for the pre release trailer promo DVD for The Passion Of The Christ with my good friend and fellow Musician Charlie George.
............................................................ ............................................................ .................
My most current projects are the new album "Only Make Believe" from Gregory Page which was recorded at Sounden Studios in San Clemente, on this CD I got to play a beautiful 7ft Yamaha grand piano, B3 organ, Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos, pipe organ and various other keyboards.
The other project I am really proud to be a part of is an album by my mate Michael Muldoon, this album is very special to me as Michael is basically my big brother from another mother, he and his family are the reason I'm now living in California, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have been involved in any of the music I have had the honour to be a part of in the USA. It was co-written by Michael and myself and was produced by my good friend and all round musical genius Larry Mitchell at his studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The CD is available at iTunes, CD Baby, Lou's records @ 434 North Coast Highway 101 Encinitas, California www.lousrecords.com and will soon be available to buy from this very page.

As well as playing keys I'm also a pro sound engineer working primarily at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California (www.bellyup.com) where I am also production manager mixing live sound for many local, national and international acts that play including The Aggrolites (my board mix was broadcast live on 94.9FM), The Noisettes, The Wonderstuff, Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), Glenn Phillips (Toad The Wet Sprocket), Fisbone, B-Side Players, Don Carlos, Mikie Dread, GZA, The Minus 5 (R.E.M's Peter Buck's side project), Roger Clyne And The Peacemakers (one of the very best live bands playing today), The Mother Hips (another one of the very best live bands out there), Rhett Miller of the Old 97's, Billy Midnight, Pato Banton, Go Jimmy Go, The Skatalites, Dennis Quaid And The Sharks, Los Amigos Invisibles, Irwin's Conspiricy (a great friend and awesome musician), Viva K, Steve Poltz both solo and with the Rugburns, Jack The Original, Bartender's Bible, Bonny Prince Billy to name but a few, check out www.bellyup.com .
............................................................ ............................................................ ...........
On top of all this I also manage to find time to mix front of house for the Grammy award winning band Venice (best international album, Dutch Grammy's) in San Diego and around the LA area whenever their brother Kevin can't make the gig
............................................................ ............................................................ .........
I have picked up the gig as bass legend Bootsy Collins sound guy for his upcoming US, Canadian and world tour starting June 30th, this is an amazing honor, just to be Bootsy's sound guy is honor enough but the tour also includes members of James Brown's original band the JB's and the whole night is a tribute to James Brown, this going to be one seriously funky show not to be missed!!! Keep checking my page for upcoming dates as they are announced.
