Ray Suen Appreciation Club

About Me

Hi, this is Joaniemen .
A couple years ago I spied Ray Suen and his fiddle at a block party. I invited him to come over to my garage and play a little with Matt Curreri and me. At the time, he was just a kid with not much else do to, so he agreed. Ray quickly became an integral part of our band, the Exfriends, and the next thing we knew, he became just about the most sought-after violinist in town. Every time Ray performs, audiences want to know more about him, musicians want to hire him. He's just one of those players with the right combination of technical ability and good taste. Not only on violin, but guitar too. I nearly keeled over the other day when he sent me a recording he made of a Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappelli tune... and if you haven't guessed already, yes, Ray played both the Django and the Grappelli parts on the recording.
You can catch a performance by Ray Suen just about any night of the week, whether it's with Gregory Page , the Hot Club of San Diego, the Killers , the Exfriends , the Blackout Party , Novelty Jazz, or little old me .
