About Me

Over-educated, under-appreciated woman on the edge of a nervous breakdown. I am 62 years old, recently widowed. Born in Sussex but moved to Houghton then later the coastal town of Milford Haven after my husband passed away in July 2005 following an altercation with some undercooked curried eggs.I have 3 children - Sam aged 33, a Solicitor; Emily aged 38, a Doctor; and Joe, a Barrister, who is 41. I am very proud of them all, even if they have married beneath themselves, except for Sam who is yet to meet the right woman and spends every summer at Mykonos.I am 5ft 6inches, fairly broad shouldered and like to wear long flowing dresses with neck scarves and small glasses (that is, I wear small glasses, not the scarves themselves, that would be ostentatious and not a little impractical). My Interests

Gardening, playing the harp, film society and I am also an active member of the Women's Institute and local parish. I am interested in antiquarian penmanship and particularly collecting French letters.

I'd like to meet:

Correspondents and pals of a similar social milieu and of an intelligent mien, for stimulating chit-chat and discovering new hobbies. Now that the fledglings have flown the coop, I would not be averse to meeting eligible bachelors of a certain age - providing your intentions are almost entirely honourable (I can spot a tan mark from a recently removed wedding ring at 50 paces).

Music:

Julie London, Andy Williams, the Carpenters, Dean Martin, Francoise Hardy, Scott Walker, the Andrews Sisters, the Ink Spots, Manhattan Transfer, Nana Mouskouri. I used to be chairman of the David Essex Appreciation Society (1972-1978) before transferring my affections to Paul Nicholas.

Black Narcissus, Brief Encounter, Passport To Pimlico, Grease, Carry On Up The Khyber, Chicago, Deep Throat, Un Homme Et Un Femme, Spiceworld: The Movie.

Books:

Eats Shoots & Leaves, Delia Smith: One Is Fun (although I think a more accurate title would be One Is Rather Lonely Actually), How To Be A Domestic Goddess, The Story Of O, The I Ching, Bonjour Tristesse, and Hedy Lamarr's autobiography.

reading matter?

Book club tonight. Tara gives me her solemn word that she will behave herself, and apparently Marcus has a surprise for me! I hope I never see a quiche again, though.

The Lazarus blog...back from the dead!

Well, not back from the dead exactly, dear reader... but back from Neyland, which is not much different.  I've spent the last couple of months staying in a B&B overlooking the Cleddau Bridge ...

Personality crisis

I have deleted that attention slut Tom from my meagre friends list.  Every site I visit, he is a linked friend!  Talk about shallow! He doesn't need that many friends, so in the words of Bar...
