I started playing guitar aged 14, on a classical guitar I got when I was only small. I probably listened to whatever wasn't cool at the time- 1988-90 During this time, I had about 4 or 5 Les Paul's, which I would paint or swap humbuckers around on.I collected a bundle of guitars and fx and I bought my first Fender Stratocaster (tobacco s/b) early '93 for £350?-not sure now.A Marshall JCM half stack and some replacement Seymour Duncan '59-f/JB-r pickups for one of the Les Paul guitars. I moved to Edinburgh for a year when I was 17 or 18. I played electric guitar whilst at college in HOR. It wasn't until spring '93 I turned professional aged 19-whilst eating confectionery in Jersey and Switzerland. I played guitar in clubs and speakeasy's with Norman Hale : who'd been in a lot of groups over the years; Free (as a session pianist), Bad Company, the late Noel Redding and (now the late) Mitch Mitchell were his backing band, before Chas Chandler asked tem to form The Hendrix Experience...In the mid 70's Atlantic Records sent Led Zeppelin to Jersey, in tax exile- Zeppelin became Norman's backing group in Behan's night club in St Helier. I used to live near a tourist spot called Devil's Hole, in Jersey and think this may have inspired some of the lyrics on 'Achilles last stand' (c)1976 Presence LP. When Norman began his set one night - the curtains pulled up and the drummer started playing, then on walked Jimmy Page on guitar and Robert Plant rolled on in cruches - Norman didn't recognise them at first... But look up his website for all the details, the stories and rare press cuttings are worth reading about... The Tornado's (Joe Meeks group) playing the on the first ever international number 1 hit record: 'Telstar'. For the finale of our set most nights I would set fire to my Marshall stack whilst playing a solo with a violin bow between my teeth! .This isn't true, of course, in fact I don't approve of that- smashing expensive instruments isn't recommended. It certainly doesn't make you a better musician- just a bit of a crumbly bear knocker. Neither is burning any instrument- not big, not cool -just sad ... or pyromaniacal-psychoidiotic... Anyway I stopped playing guitar when I reached age 22. For the next 4 years or so I neither owned or played a musical instrument. It was good to have a hiatus from it all. I was still playin' in my head a lot of the time though. I'm not going to tell you much else because the tunes should tell the rest. I'm 36 now and over 20 years since I learn't 3 chords on a banjo... Guitar is my main musical interest, but I do sing.I can play a bit of drums too, bass and some chords on the keyboards. Another album Russo® - Mooza Zanoo Zah is ready to download. You can buy it for around £7.99. Probably an aquired chocolate eagle, but it took 2 years to put it all together- so it should have enough on there. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI record music under the name RUSSO®RUSSO catalogue Russo- 2003-not available (no label) Russo- Ben-Hur 2004-deleted (no label) Russo- Batwoman versus the Banshee 2005-deleted (Cat Jumped Over The Moon) Russo®, - The Gothic Surf Puppies 2006 (Cat Jumped Over The Moon) Russo®, - BatWoman versus the Banshee Reissue 2007 (Cat Jumped Over The Moon) Russo®, - Mooza Zanoo Zah -released November 2008 (Cat Jumped Over The Moon) Russo®, -Elev^tor -release date May 2009 Russo®, -Night Singer -released in September 2009experience bouts of 'writers cramp', drummer's blister', 'fiddler's elby' 'guitarist's thumb' or 'singer's croak', 'painter's... painter's ear? haha
