Sounds Like: HISTORY: Back in the dark old days of 2005, hero and founder of Swimming Underground Rhys Clayton was toiling away in the slimy world of Kings Cross sex shops. Feeling the type of angst that only graveyard shift work can inspire, he decided to release his frustrations by making his own recordings. After recruiting a rhythm section, Swimming Underground emerged as force on the inner city scene. The band has recently released their début EP and is currently recording a follow up due for release in early 2008.SOUNDS LIKE: The eccentric sounds of Swimming Underground have been described as a cross between Magazine and early Sebadoa. Drawing inspiration from lead singer Rhys’ internment in a sex store, the songs delve into depraved subject matters of masturbation, sleep deprivation, and that dirtiest of all subjects – politics. Delivered with a dry vocal styling that combines the raw emotion of Ian Brown with the snarling energy of Mark E Smith, it can be guaranteed that Swimming Underground sounds like nothing else. These boys long ago gladly accepted that their sound doesn’t fit into the trend loving Sydney scene. Their mission is to get people expanding their minds to the new sound. The sound of Psychedelic, Lo- Fi, New Wave, Death Funk!If you would like to review our music, you can on this site, or on: http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Artists/View.aspx?artistid=8 413If you would like to contact the band, leave a message here, or send an email to: [email protected]
