The Beginning
The band was orignally started 4 years ago by Nige. After many changes to both band memebrs and music, the current line up have been together for about 8 months and started off with 4 blokes. Now at 5 blokes! All lyrics and music are original, never been heard before! anywhere!
STARTING OUT
4th Jan 2006 kicked off Angel Bass's assault on the live music circuit at Fibbers. This was a warm-up gig alongside Without Order and Make It Better Later for the more serious Round 1 heats. Wednesday 8th March was a momentous day as we had our first support slot at Cert 18. We supported Disarm, who were on a UK tour, along with Trecherous Swine and Kaikoura. A few first-time nerves but all-in-all a very good gig. Video footage was taken on the night15th March we played in our heat in the Battle of the Bands at Fibbers. A great gig with plenty of support for all bands concerned. We didn't get through to the 2nd round unfortunately but we were beaten by more established bands than ourselves
On March 26th this year another lead/rhythm guitarist joined Angel Bass
3rd May saw us at Cert 18 again. This time supporting Asomvel. After a few technical problems and mis-understandings, did our set. One of the best gigs yet. Great crowd reaction and Ollie making his debut with the band really made our night.
8th June saw us back at Cert 18 supporting Disarm again. Great gig, great sound , great atmosphere. Cheers to all who turned up and to all involved.
LEAVING YORK
24th June saw Angel Bass's first outing outside of York to play at The White Room in Hull. The headliners were called Invey and are a heavy metal, female fronted band. The other support were called Face of Scars and are a local Hull band. The whole gig went very well, a little nerve-wracking to begin with but we soon overcame that. The venue was great and we had very good comments after we had done our bit. We even signed our first autographs on a couple of our CDs. How cool is that! Great gig, great sound, great experience for all concerned. Thanks to all involved.CD's
3rd August was a red letter day! We got our first batch of CD's mastered and printed and we had a gig at Cert 18. First on was Finality Jack, Angel Bass went 2nd, Red Mosquito were main support and last but not least, the headliners 98 Pages. Great sound tonight, a big thanks to Andy the soundman. A good night was had by all. Thanks to all who gave their support.Another great gig went down on 15th August, again at Cert 18 in York. Once again, we supported another great band called Kyrbgrinder who hail from London. The lead singer/drummer was awesome. First on was This Days Fury, a rocking band from Dewsbury, then on came East/West a local band from York and then in the main support slot was us - ANGEL BASS. We have re-vamped our set list and on the night got very good comments once again. THANKS to all who came and gave their time to watch all the bands.
CHARITY CONCERT AND REVIEW
Friday 25th August. Angel Bass played a charidee gig for York Against Cancer alongside Lowground and Megawatt Winged Avenger. Paul from Acomb music was the sponsor, The Junction in York was the venue. Read on to see a review of our efforts:"Angel Bass were on next. I know this band quite well as they get a lot of their equipment from me, but I had never heard them play live. They are a five piece consisting of Shaun on vocals, Ollie on guitar, Nige on guitar, Mike on bass, and Carl on drums. As I closed the doors to the function room to contain the increased volume, Angel Bass launched into "Life Support". An immediate change of pace and atmosphere in the room. They had a large following in the room, and had the initiative to bring some merchandising and their EP. They did another rock track before slowing things down with "Human", the title track from their EP. It was good stuff, and was going down well. Mike won a bet by playing his bass off stage and dancing with a fan, Ollie was throwing himself about during his guitar solos, Shaun was an experienced frontman giving us strong growling vocals and emitting confidence from the stage, Nige was making good use of effects during his strong riffing, and the ladies had a treat when Carl stripped off as they came to play their last song "Paranoid Eyes". Carl was doing well behind a strange drumkit which was twice as big as he was used to. Rob, the official photographer from Discerning Images, and myself thought there was an eighties feel to the sound, especially when the muddy distortion was in use. I think they sound better and stronger live than recorded. If they can reproduce the live sound in the studio, they will have cracked it." Paul - Acomb Music
BOTB 2006 at Cert 18, York
Victory is ours!!!
13th September was an extrememly memorable day. We were playing in BOTB at Cert 18 in York in the first round, heat 3. We were on second and the atmosphere aswell as the venue was hot! The support from fans and the room in general was awesome. After what seemed an age, (after all 4 bands had played) and the voting had finished, Taco came onto the stage and announced the winners of the heat. ANGEL BASS had won the fans vote and were through. Lots of whooping, shouting and celebration followed. God are we chuffed! Watch out world, here we come!!!!! Bring on the 2nd round, we're gonna win that too........................

Next up were the stunning Angel Bass. I must admit I had specifically gone along to photograph them for some more PR shots, but they never disappoint. I'm not on the payroll, so my views are my own and not stage managed. Shaun (vocals) was in good voice despite not having decent comeback from the monitors. His voice is perfectly suited to the songs these boys write. My favourite is 'Paranoid Eyes' which is probably their best song todate. The songs played here were from Human (EP), give it a listen and you will see where I'm coming from. Karl kindly clowned on the drums and did his best Gene Simmons (tongue out, mad eyed) pose for the camera, but more importantly, his drumming is s&*t hot. What energy.
Olly, Nige & Mike just go for it. Nige is as cool as ice and keeps the music together, Mike (soon to qualify as a Doctor no less) interacted well with Olly (Lead). They all just love what they do and the audience went along with it. It's easy for me to take my shots/images because these guys look and sound right. Sharon (their manager) must have been really proud as they won tonights battle on the audience vote. Angel Bass Rocked..
Wednesday 15th november was the 2nd round for the BOTB at Cert 18. We unfortunately didn't get through to the semi-finals but we did our best and had a really great gig. You can see the crowds reaction from this photo. Thanks to all our supporters who helped us get this far.
