EDGEPLAY: A FILM ABOUT THE RUNAWAYS

A VICTORY TISCHLER-BLUE FILM

About Me

In 1975, a group of underage, teenage girls, including then-unknown future rock stars Joan Jett and Lita Ford, got together under the tutelage of the Svengali-like Kim Fowley to form the first ever all-female hard rock band, The Runaways. Signed almost immediately to a major record label deal, the band was dubbed ..jailbait rock.. by the press and became an overnight media sensation.
..Edgeplay: A Film About The Runaways,.. chronicles the rise of the band, its hopes and dreams, and its eventual disintegration as the result of media belittling, in-fighting and drug use amidst rumors of verbal and emotional abuse by the band..s management. Produced and directed by Victory Tischler Blue, one of the Runaways.. bass players, the film presents an unflinching insider..s view of what it was like for six teenaged girls to be thrust into the limelight with minimal adult supervision, in a ..sex, drugs and rock..n..roll.. era hostile to female musicians.
New interviews with five members of the band, two of the band..s former managers, and two of the girls.. mothers, inter-cut with never-before-seen archival and behind-the-scenes footage of the band, as well as in concerts and interviews to present the first self-told story of the band that influenced musicians from The Germs to Courtney Love. The film includes a special appearance by rock legend Suzi Quatro, as well as new songs by Suzi Quatro and Lita Ford.
