Christus Hypercubus, Salvador Dali
Christ crucified on a unfolded four dimensional cube.
Life piled on life
Were all too little, and of one of me
Little remains; but every hour is saved
from that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things: and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this grey spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond that utmost bound of human thought.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Archilles, whom we knew.
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
-- Odysseus/Ulysses
my reflections:
All that we've known, is but the first second of our existance. We are children in a very real sense.
the truth as is known .. is going to die. Our planet, our universe and all of it's galaxies. But being aware gives us the choice and the possibility of chooseing our own destiny. Those who choose to stay at home and not evolve .. will of course follow the pattern already laid down for us. Those who choose to fight for more .. at least have the CHANCE of breaking free of the pattern. And in the end.. I truly think it would be a shame for all of this to of been for naught. to live and die with no memory between... is not noble, it's insane and tragic.
... and so fell the weight I never can lift behind us the darkness between us the rift.
last night in the moments my thoughts were adrift and coasting a terrace approaching a rift.
through which I could spy several glimpses beneath of the darkness the light from above could not reach.
I spied wings of reason herself taking flight and upon a yonder precipice saw her alight.
and glare back at me, one last look of dismay, as if she were the last one she thought I'd betray.
so much the better I said to myself and drawing quite close to the top of the shelf.
I struggled with destiny up on the ledge and gasped when defeated he slipped off the edge.
and silence, contagious in moments like these, consumed me and strengthened my will to appease.
the passion that sparked me one terrible night and shocked and persuaded my soul to ignite...
~Phish

"The challenge to our civilization which has come from our knowledge of the cosmic energies that fuel the stars, the movement of light and electrons through matter, the intricate molecular order which is the biological basis of life, must be met by the creation of a moral and political order which will accommodate these forces or we shall be destroyed. It will try our deepest resources of reason and compassion."
-- Heinz Pagels
"Probably all the organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have descended from some one primordial form, into which life was first breathed.... There is a grandeur in this view of life... that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a begining endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved."
-- Charles Darwin
"There is nothing permanent except change."
--Heraclitus
"Better yet, the whole superstructure of rational-symbolic knowledge can be rearranged so that these aspects of life's possabilities can be perceived and learned as unity and diversity within change rather than fragmentation within an illusory permanence."
-- The Starseed Transmissions
With attention to intention, the inner becomes the outer, a clear mirror reflection our Self. The internal and external no longer separated, but held togethere by the music we play, the music we hear, the life we live.
-- Higher Ocatve Music; Evolution 1986-1996 "As in music, so in life"
If spirituality is simply a function of life, the edge of a cosmic ripple, then where is it going? We don't know. Like the universe, it is still expanding into unknown territory.
That the world is, is the mystical.
~Ludwig Wittgenstein
Wind in the cave: Movement in stillness. Power in silence.
Ancient societies were tribal; The group did the thinking. Current society is splintered; The individual must be complex.
We must be able to let things happen in the psyche. For us, this actually is an art of which few people know anything. Consciousness is forever interfering, helping, correcting, and negating, and never leaving the simple growth of the psychic processes in peace. It would be simple enough, if only simplicity were not the most difficult of all things.
~Carl Jung
All Things want to fly. Only we are weighed down by desire, caught in ourselves and enthralled with our heaviness....If someone were to fall into intimate slumber, and slept deeply with Things--how easily he would come to a different day, out of the mutual depth.
~Rainer Maria Rilke
What imagination could we have left for that higher equilibrium in which nature balanced history....We turn our backs on nature; we are ashamed of beauty. Our wretched tragedies have a smell of the office clinging to them, and the blood that trickles from them is the color of printer's ink.
~from Helen's Exile by Albert Camus
We are so caught up in our self-important dramas that we can't smell the poisons in the air or taste them in the water. The Western urban intellectual's long indifference to the notion of a simple, experiential understanding of the natural world may turn out to be the gravest rational error of all.
~from The Essential Crazy Wisdom by Wes "Scoop" Nisker
Zither, chess, book, painting, sword.
Self-awareness: facing mirrors that pass through the universe, gathing new images on the way--endlessly reflexive, The infinit seen as finit, the analogue of consciousness carrying the sensed bits of infinity.
"Specialized complexity," "We gather, assemble, and reflect our system of order." "Select form the past and match it against the present: Learn consequences."
~from the Dune books

"It is the friend neither violent nor weak. The friend. It is the beloved neither tormenting nor tormented. The beloved. Air and the world not sought. Life." -- Vigils by Rimbaud

some directions of interest are:

healing the suffering and misery of the world (such as hunger and starvation) ... is the real birthing grounds of terrorism. (well that control, repression, ignorance and lack of purpose or direction) bringing more rationality and intelligence to governmental entities, societies and cultures. healing the rifts between the many governments, societies and cultures. healing the rifts between beliefs, religion, and science. (as we know 'truth' should encompass all of reality and thought) encouraging the growth of legal systems more focused towards and supportive of individual rights, and freedom. ~and many issues needing addressed to help our society and government better able to handle the changes it faces. developing technology, science, and communities that are more harmonious with biosphere earth, and technology that is stepping stones to moving beyond biosphere earth. developing technology that assists the mind in learning. technology that challenges and plays with the imagination. (as to spark the imagination is to spark the intellect) .. also it's possible to experience and/or glimpse the realms beyond without GOING beyond or needing drugs. (though "drugs" are simply natures technology, and our fear of drugs that awaken the mind seriously needs addressed too) this will provide a alternative to those who CHOOSE not to evolve in mind or body. after all any map that doesn't include freedom of choice will ultimately fail. influencing society to inspire (not force) more of a "Atlantis" model of social interest, focus and direction. healing the rift between medical science and the body/mind. and looking to not just treating ailments but the cause. ~assisting in our evolution and betterment. ..a science of life. and instead of letting the "philosophical questions" be reasons for shutting our eyes. exploring and dancing with the questions. taking control of our own evolution just as evolution intended.

..ok that was a lil rudimentary but tis the basic idea. just a quick sketch in need of further thought and explanation/justifications and supporting reasons. Granted everything mentioned and more is being worked on in various ways by various individuals, but that is no longer enough. there needs to be a open and collective engagement of the tasks facing humanity. the idea that we can just blindly stumble into the future with no plan or direction is dumb and unworthy of such an intelligent race as humanity.

Heroes:

Carl Sagan did the greatest job, of doing the job that needs doing. (intellectual boot camp) Deepak Chopra is doing a warriors job. Not as focused on integrity of knowledge it sometime consern me. A more modified reality I guess is not a bad thing. And myth is not something to be fraid of. Peter Gabriel _ a music arch angel. In my childhood I grew up kind of isolated place, a teacher tought me a love or oriental and primal cultures. While I never questioned reality at that age. Through the learning of martial arts and the atmosphere of full time student I was introduced to deeper meditation. Perhaps not the same as growing up in a monestary, but as close it gets in american culture. Albums like Birdy and Security were the perfect soundtracks to this time.lately would probably be David Bohm .. a great philospher and scientist. (should listen to his documentaries or video's) And Sam Harris in his documentary 'THE END OF FAITH; Religion, Terror, and the Future of Reason' does a great job of birthing intelligence in the geopolitical structure of our society. Some other documentaries that are great. (and i list this under hero's because teaching is our greatest job): Native American Teachings by Joseph Rael (Beautiful Painted Arrow) The Dancing Wu Li Master - (comes in book form, but the documentary is a totaly different experience) The Elegant Universe - umm.. i forget authors name. But a zen like walk through cosmology and physical science. (as is most the others i listed in one sense or another) The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is sounding pretty good but i've not listened to all the tapes yet. - or in order.
