Smasher

Smasher, otherwise known as Mark Davies was born in Epsom, Surrey England sometime in the latter half of the last century. His parents emigrated to Victoria, B.C. Canada shortly thereafter, and although tempted, decided not to leave him behind. Mark comes from a very musical family, his father being a school/music teacher and his mother being somewhat gifted with her vocal chords amongst other things. Mark grew up surrounded by hits of the day, but only truly got inspired by music when by chance he saw the fab four movie "Help!" on the telly. It was then he decided that he wanted to pursue a music career. Smasher had tried piano lessons at age ten but alas, did not take to them. They were too structured for the dreamy lad and besides he hated the piano lessons almost as much as his teacher. At the age of 16 however he walked into a music store with his Father and brother and saw a guitar he fancied. His Father bought it (the guitar that is as opposed to the farm} and he began to learn chords from listening to records and watching old footage of the Beatles the Stones and the Who playing live. He also tried his hand at writing his first song which ended up sounding alot like a rip off of an early Beatles tune. Years have passed since that first song however and he now has a good number of potential hits waiting to be released to an unsuspecting world. Since Jan 2004 Smasher has resided in London, England and has played in a couple of classic rock cover bands since his arrival on Her Majesty's shores.Smashers songwriting styles are very diverse writing everything from classic rock to country to Pop/Latino/Dance to more recently a very Avril Lavigne meets Greenday style Powerpop song.Smasher has recently been working with a very talented young female singer called Jemma Hixon {www.myspace.com/jemmahixon check out "Second Hand Nymphomation"..Smasher will be uploading more songs onto this site shortly so please stand by.
