About Me
Drugstore Valentine was born in the mind of vocalist Kenny Ozz and the basement of guitarist Kari Mandy in Akron, Ohio in the summer of 2002. Former Cherry Bang bassist Kehli Atomz was also on board. Shortly thereafter drummer Lee "Pierce" Johnson entered the fold. After numerous practices in Akron, things seemed to fall apart. Mostly because of practice being in Akron and the fact that Kenny and Lee live in Cincinnati. Drugstore Valentine was put on the backburner. After a 2 year absence, Kenny and Lee resurrected the DSV with lead guitarist Mike Murdoch in the spring of 2004. DSV had arrived!! playing several shows in the Cincy area and creating an unmistakable buzz. Playing mostly obscure covers "Tuff, George Thoroughgood, Murderdolls, etc".
They have had their share of difficulties with bassists to say the least. Jimmy Presley, Matt Slaughter, Curly Berry, and Brian Kinkaide have all been in and out of the band. Kill City's Rick Motz and The Total Dude's Kevin Crass have even filled in on shows to help out. Now, with new bassist Justin Blue in the fold, DSV is ready to tear up the scene like they always do..
They have opened for rock legends L.A. Guns, Britny Fox, and C.C. Deville. As well as glam cult legends Pretty Boy Floyd "twice". Comedy-rock legends Green Jello, Radio rock funny guys Psychostick, and up-and-comers Vains Of Jenna and Z02. Also opening for horror-punk legend Wednesday 13 and WWE's Lita's band The Luchagors, Mensrea "featuring members of GWAR", as well as touring acts Disown "twice", Rebel girl "twice", Broken Teeth "twice", In-Winter, Blacklist Union, The AKA's, Creature Feature, Downtown Brown, Screaming Mechanical Brain, Creature Feature, The A.K.A's, and all-star band Hookers-n-blow "featuring members of Ratt, Love/Hate, White Lion, Magna-fi, and Jani Lane Band".
They have played some of the finest venues in the Cincinnati/tri-state area, including: Annies, The Blue Note, The Madison Theater, The Mad Frog, Top Cats "RIP", The Poison Room, Coconutz "RIP", Dirty jacks, Sudsy Malones "RIP", and many, many, more! They have free bumper stickers and have T-shirts for sale "$10". Now with 12 originals, and counting, Along with the recording of their debut cd IN PROGRESS, The DSV is slowly, very slowly, bringing the ROCK back to Cincinnati and surrounding areas........1 fan at a time!! Dont fight it....Embrace it...You know you wanna!!!!!!
