Denver wasn't ready. The south is in trouble!

About Me

Ochi was born in Beaumont, Texas into a musical family. She began her career, singing gospel at the age of 4. By age 6 she was singing solo. She sang gospel until the ripe, old age of 18 when she left the church. Introduced to West African drumming in 1994, Ochi performed with several Troupes, performing West Afrikan music, first as a dancer, then later as a drummer. At the end of every show, the praises reminded Ochi of the first dinner party she threw. At the end of the meal, her grandmother said, “The corn was good’. What? It was a frozen, TV dinner. Hmm what was her point? (Pay the utility bill, see the light!) I didn’t cook or create that bland food! The music wasn’t hers! The shows lacked her signature. There was no humor, not enough interaction, and no freedom. Therefore, things had to change! So after 36 years of living in Colorado, moved to Houston, Texas. With an. “I can do it” attitude, she became a full-time student majoring in Entertainment and Recording. She created her own label, Gatekeeper Productions, which she hopes to develop into a viable entity for women who want a supportive atmosphere where they can express their creativity. From a dream, to a plan, her music is now a reality. Ochi wrote, arranged, and composed her own songs. She released her first ever album in 2005, entitled “Sleepless”, (she was in menopause, lighten up.) She released her second album in August of 2006, entitled “Just Ochi” (menopause, memory loss). She was introduced to the music industry without lube or dinner. Not one to be done twice, she began Fledgling Recording Studios. Proactive? Oh yeah! She has several projects in the works. The pilot for Lovers N Friends is now available for viewing at www.myspace.com/loversnfriendsshow. She also has a new CD that will be released later this year. It is her first self mixed and mastered CD will be released in 2008. Hold on to the rail and step away from the door. You are about to enjoy the ride of a lifetime.
