Hey Thanks for checking out our space! The Wandsworth LGBT community network was launched in October 2005 by the LGBT advisory group London because there was no representation in this borough. In the last year we have worked alongside the Met Police, Victim Support, Age Concern, Roehampton University, Primary Care Trust and many other establishments. Our aim is to provide representation, support, advice and services for LGBT people in Wandsworth. Our priorities are to challenge homophobia and discrimination within the public sectors of the borough. Politics aside we are also here to provide a safe space to meet new people, socialise and learn how together we can make a difference and change attitudes towards LGBT people. Our forum meets once a month offering the chance to debate current issues and promote LGBT events within the area. For more information please email [email protected] alternatively send us a message on myspace and we'll get back to you. Keep checking our page for regular updates. We look forward to hearing from you Please add us to your friends Kate & Sarah (Vice Chair and Secretary)
Fred Blanchard and Raymond Reiss shot the original 1975 Gay Freedom Celebration. With big ideas, and little money....and little choice...they edited their original 16mm footage. Shown occasionally, this 20 minute film sat in the can for the next 30 years under the big name of ACME AMALGAMATED....life went on. In 2004, Jane Reiss approached Tim Gruver (the founder of the Tallgrass Film Festival)...showed him the film and asked for his input. He found it to be of historical significance since it captured a time before the aids epidemic. Tim befriended us,offered various suggestions, and advised us on ways to elevate the film to another level. The finished project is now 45 minutes long....the original is now interspersed with new interviews. Sadly Tim met an untimely death before we had completed this project.
