About Me

The Sisters of the Sea is a non-profit organization for women surfers in Jacksonville, FL. The group was founded in July of 1997 when 8 women came together for a surf session in Hanna Park, encouraged by the talented, longtime Jax Beach local Eva Duran. It was a sunny, glassy, waist high day and everyone had a blast. Since then, the group has grown steadily. The Sisters of the Sea is a group of women who love to surf. We encourage and support each other in and out of the water. Many strong friendships have developed as a result of the creation of this organization. In conjunction with the First Coast Surfrider Organization, Sisters of the Sea gathers for a beach clean up and surf session on the last Saturday of every month at the Jax Beach Lifeguard Station in Jacksonville Beach. If the waves do not permit, the Sisters come prepared to do a beach clean up. Land meetings are also held when necessary.

10th Annual Sisters of the Sea Surf Classic will be on Saturday, September 6, 2008...the weekend AFTER Labor Day Weekend! Contest will be held at the south side of the Jax Beach Pier...NOT at Hanna Park. Aaron Chang is designing the contest T-shirt this year, so you know it's going to ROCK! Get ready for an AWESOME event!!!
