I am here for Friends

About Me

My name is Alex Chessen. I am 17 years old and live in Billings, MT. I'm a Junior at Senior high. History, theology, and science are interesting subjects to me. I love to learn, and I've learned a lot about these. I am an atheist. If you have a problem with that, you may as well get the hell off of my page right now. I always enjoy a good debate though, so if you're open minded too (and aren't just gonna preach to me) feel free to start up a conversation. I think a lot. I'm a very observant person. I also love nature. We, as the human race, have become too dependent on technology. Admittedly, I love technology too (I even work in fields such as programming and web design), yet there's nothing better, in my mind, than getting out into the woods and living off of my own power. Not in a freakish way or anything, but I'm into pushing myself and seeing just how far the human body can go. Most people today live a too comfortable life and we've lost touch with our roots. So basically, I'm both a city and a country boy all in one.
I'm very social; my friends mean the world to me. I always prefer going out and cruising with my friends, maybe even meeting some new people, to sitting on my ass at home playing video games (though I do enjoy those too from time to time). I'm also a very kind person, and am always willing to help someone in need. I've worked hard to become who I am today, and I'm quite confident with myself. I like to joke around a lot, yet can be serious when neccesary. I listen pretty much exclusively to hard rock and metal, yet I love music. I play the drums personally. I'm also somewhat of a pacifist, for I've seen plenty of violence and wish not to cause more. I do know how to fight however, and will if it is to protect someone (I've got a few nice scars cause of shit like that).
I believe strongly in secular humanism, and skepticism. I've studied science, theology, and history a bit, and have found I'm relatively intelligible on the subjects. No offence if you think it's without flaw, but I can tear any part of the bible apart with simply logic, and historical and scientific fact. I'm also very interested in psychology (more specifically, human nature and instinct. the way we think and react to our surroundings, and why we do certain actions or make certain decisions). I also believe in social liberty. I hate censorship, it's usually pointless anyway.
I love to meet new people, so if I seem at all interesting to you, send me a message, or add me as a friend, or whatever you feel like. Let's start up a discussion, or simply chat. Ha, what have you got to lose? I promise I'm not a psycho stalker/killer......well......at least not on weekdays, haha.

My Interests

I'm interested in theology, though I'm by no means religious myself. Climbing, hiking, mountaineering, computer stuff, airsoft, music, playing the drums, hanging out with friends, etc. are all interests of mine.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone worth meeting really. I enjoy meeting new people.

MY TOP FRIENDS ARE DONE ON A WHIM, VERY LOOSELY! I DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE ORDER TOO MUCH. NO COMPLAINING!

Music:

Rock and metal. Rap sucks. If you like rap then you suck, unless of course you don't. system of a down, disturbed, pantera, avenged sevenfold, killswitch engage, lamb of god, slipknot, mudvayne, thrice, nonpoint, Anthrax, rob zombie, metallica, god forbid, three days grace, bullet for my valentine, papa roach, saliva, breaking benjamin, godsmack, shinedown, and a hell of a lot more.

Movies:

The Golden Compass, Beerfest, Dawn of the dead, Land of the dead, Team America, V for Vendetta, Hard Candy, The Holy Grail, The Meaning of Life, The Life of Brian, Resident Evil, 1408, Legend, Eurotrip, Clerks, Clerks 2, Shaun of the Dead, Grandma's Boy, Hot Fuzz, etc.
I like comedy, action, and most of all: HORROR. I have yet to find a truly scary horror movie (Well, Jesus Camp was fucking scary, but I think that's classified under 'religious'). Most horror movies just make me laugh.

Television:

I don't watch TV too often, but I like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Robot Chicken, Family Guy, Code Monkeys, Survivorman, Man vs Wild, Dirty Jobs, etc.

Books:

THE ALPHABET OF MANLINESS

The God Delusion, The Gospel of The Flying Spaghetti Monster, Letter to a Christian Nation, The Bible (such a great work of historical fiction), House of the Scorpion, The Heroin Diaries, etc.

Heroes:

The Rev, Scott Ian, Richard Dawkins, any and every freethinking and goodwilled person.
