About Me

Biography:
Lord JP Arnold aka Lord JP, as he has become known in his re-innovated image in the American music scene, is more than just a DJ, he is a house aficionado. His extensive knowledge of all the aspects of house music from record labels and producers to DJs and tracks, past and present, has impressed the most knowledgeable of house heads and in the DJ circuit, has led some to affectionately call him the bible!
JP was first introduced to house music via the Acid/House scene in the late 1980’s while still living in the county of Kent located near the South East of London, England, his native country, by his older brother. JP, drawn to it almost instantly, began buying records and making mix tapes and listening to pirate radio stations such as Centerforce & Sunrise FM. While his love for house music began to take off, the London House scene was also evolving as a number of DJs, such as Danny Rampling, Andrew Wetherall, Terry Farley, and Rocky & Diesel began bringing Balearic beats back from the then little known island of Ibiza to the London scene. They began playing this new sound in clubs like Shoom & Spectrum and the famous “Boys Own” parties which revolutionized the sound of house music and greatly influenced JP’s future musical career.
By the mid-90s, the scene had built a mass following after exploding into the London music scene and JP too became apart of this musical movement. His initial introduction to house music led him to DJ-ing and his talent enabled him to become a resident DJ at London’s famous “WHY Parties” as well as a staple in the London House scene by being one half of the DJ duo, A2A, completed by fellow DJ Justin Allen. The two would go to such events like “Full Circle Parties Sundays” after pulling all nighters on Saturdays, then hit the after party in Windsor known as “Carry on up the Swan”, where some of the biggest DJs in the world would come to congregate in their only spare time away from DJ-ing. It was there that they caught their first big break after being asked to spin for this party and impressing then Resident DJ Andrew Curly (Sabers of Paradise) who invited the boys to take up a residency at this event.
JP & Justin astonished the crowds with their unique song choices in their skillful sets so much so, they caught the ear of UK DJ/Producer/Remixer and house music legend, Mr. Ashley Beadle, founding member of the dance trio Xpress II. Ashley was so taken by the duo, he gave them a spot in the opening night lineup of his new club “London Xpress” playing alongside Rocky & Diesel & Andrew Wetherall, which opened the door to numerous more offers to play at various gigs in and around London and all over the UK.
With a residency at the weekly “Why Parties” as well as Sundays at “Carry on up the Swan”, it was clear A2A where on the rise to possible international DJ notoriety. Unfortunately, JP and Justin made the decision to part way in order for each to pursue their individual paths in DJ’-ing and JP felt that the up an coming club Mecca island of Ibiza should be the next stop for him. However, instead of heading straight to Ibiza, he made a small detour to the South coast of Spain where he became the resident DJ at a famous London Underground club in Marbella.
In Marbella, JP mastered his technique playing to packed clubs alongside some of the greatest names in the house music scene. After spending some time in Spain, JP decided to demonstrate the skills he learned in his stint in Marbella by returning to London.
When he returned though, he was surprised to find a much more saturated DJ scene then when he left and his bookings were becoming more limited after his absence. After an introduction to DJ/Producer/Remixer and London music legend Mr. Orin “Afronaught” Walters from Bugz in the Attic, JP decided to put some of his musical passion into the studio. “Orin heard me singing whilst I was DJ’ing and asked me to lay down some vocals in the studio, next thing you know we had a hit track called deeper side of London volume 1”. The track did very well in the UK house charts and JP decided that the production aspect of House music could be something he had reason to pursue. He continued working with Orin along with UK House Legend Phil Asher (Restless Soul) on the then London label Moustrap Records and was involved in the production of numerous classic house tracks.
By late 1998, JP made a choice to embark on a completely different route in the world of finance. His love for music did not fade but with his concentration tied up on his new career path, Dj-ing and producing slowly fazed out indefinitely.
It wasn’t until he moved to San Francisco for work in 2003 that his need to be involved in the house music scene was reignited, now in the American music scene. His passion for the music soon caught the attention of influential DJs and Producers such as mentor Franky Boissy, David Harness, Charles Spencer, Julius Papp and house music legend Benji Candelario along with various other DJ's & promoters in the San Francisco music scene. Before he knew it, he was involved once again in his earliest life fervor for music.
Today, Lord JP Arnold is back on the decks playing tribute to his UK roots with his monthly party “God Save Pink” in addition to numerous gigs at after parties and guest appearances in the Bay Area as well as a residency at San Francisco's number 1 House club, Pink. “I’ve achieved a happy medium between my professional life and my DJ life. It’s so great to be able to maintain the energy and the feeling with no compromises.”
