BAND BIO:

WHAT YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DEAD REBELS
Here's the SCOOP..... Coming to LA by way of Georgia, Nashville, Michigan, and beyond, Lance Palmer and the Dead Rebels combine a three-guitar attack, loud driving drums and a groove to conquer the concrete jungle, creating a new paradigm worthy of being called Alternative Southern Rock. Searing solos with heavy riffs conjure images of the illegitimate child of AC/DC and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Head Rebel, Lance Palmer, is a singer/songwriter, who brings his rural views to the city, after traveling the beaten path as a musician. His heart felt lyrics about a southern boy trying to make it in the crazy City of Angels, NYC, Nashville, Atlanta and Orlando can be heard in tunes like" PCH" and "Real Hollywood Ending". "Against my Skin" was picked up on the compilation CD organized by Cher as a fund raiser for Operation Helmet, an organization that helps the troops recieve upgade helmets while fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The song has also been picked up for the movie, "Randy and The Mob" from Oscar winning director/actor Ray Mckinnon and Oscar winning producer/actor Walton Goggins. The film has already won the Nashville film festival and will be released this fall. The song will also be featured along with My Morning Jacket and other great artist on the Lakeshore Records official “Randy and the Mob” Soundtrack.
Palmer has 2 publishing deals under his belt with Great Escape Music group in Nashville Tennessee. He signed to Indie label, Quater2Three records launched through Cherokee Studios. Lance left the label after a year due to misappropriation.
The Rebels dominated the LA club circuit before signing to Quarter2three, pushing them to the top tier of performers on Music Connection Magazines "Hot 100 Unsigned Artists for 2005"
The Dead Rebels debut self-titled album was recorded at the legendary Cherokee Studios and produced by legendary producers, the Robb Brothers (the Lemonheads, Buffalo Tom). Before the album was even available for purchase, it was featured on KLOS 95.5, LA's foremost Classic rock station.
While some of the original members have gotten married or gotten saved, the Rebels keep maturing as an act not to be missed. Their new line-up contains completely accomplished musicians who have played with the likes of Shooter Jennings, Ray Charles and Buddy Guy, to name a few. They have become even tighter and have created new material that they hope to record soon.
The Dead Rebels continue to stun onlookers at their live performances. They recently played a 4th of July gig in 29 Palms, CA, to an astounded audience of nearly 10,000.
PRESS
The Dead Rebels give new life to southern rock, instead of simply being another Lynyrd Skynyrd clone, they bring a fresh approach to the genre. Just as Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings changed Country Music, The Rebels are taking southern rock in a whole new direction. "

LENGEDARY REBELS

How The Dead Rebels chose their name:

Mahatma Gandhi (1889 to 1948)
Called the Father of the Nation by his countrymen for committing his life to freeing India from British Rule. He never wavered in his unshakable belief in nonviolent protest and religious tolerance. In January 1948, at the age of 79, he was killed by an assassin as he walked through a crowed garden in New Delhi to take evening prayers.

Johnny Cash (1932 to 2003)
One of the most imposing and influential figures in post-World War II country music. Cash didn't sound like Nashville, nor did he sound like honky-tonk or rock & roll. One of the pioneering artists on the Sun Record Label, he continued to buck the trends and create his own style of music, recording new songs up until his death in 2003.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929 to 1968)
A pivotal figure in the Civil Rights Movement and winner The Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. King eschewed the virtue of judging not ..by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." He was shot while standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968.

Ronnie Van Zant (1948 to 1977)
Ronnie Van Zant hailed from the tough west side of Jacksonville, Florida, in an area where fighting was a normal pastime. At the age of 16, he formed a rock and roll outfit that would soon be called Lynyrd Skynyrd (after the gym coach who tried to make them cut their long hair.) They would go onto define what is today known as "Southern Rock", with lyrics that painted a vivid picture of their roots while at the same time speaking out about drug abuse, gun control and good old fashion bar-brawlin'.

Gram Parsons (1946 to 1973)
Growing up in Waycross, GA Parsons is often referred to as the worlds first country/rock Star. He has developed a considerable cult following due to his efforts to blur the line between Rock & Roll and Country music during the late 1960's and early 1970's. Parson's influence was key in the development of such early 1970's bands as The Byrds, The Eagles and The Rolling Stones, as well as such new 1990's Gram-inspired bands as Son Volt, The Jayhawks, The Lemonheads, Wilco and Dash Rip Rock.

John F. Kennedy (1917 to 1963)
The 35th President of the U.S.A, Kennedy was the youngest man elected President and at 46 he was also the youngest to die. He took vigorous action in the cause of equal rights, calling for new civil rights legislation. His vision of America extended to the quality of the national culture and the central role of the arts in a vital society. His administration thus saw the beginning of new hope for both the equal rights of Americans and the peace of the world. In Dallas on a speaking tour, Kennedy was shot as he rode in a motorcade. Kennedy fell into the arms of his wife, who was riding in the open car beside him.

Bob Marley (1945 to 1981)
Raised in the slums of Kingston, Jamaica known as Trenchtown, Marley was first inspired by the R&B and pop groups of American Music. One of the mavericks of a Reggae Music, Marley was a devout Rastafari who preached the word of peace and the powers of ganja. Although he was shot by a would-be-assasin in 1976, Marley continuted to live and spread his gospel until his death by cancer in 1980.
