You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

"A pedestal is as much a prison as any small confined space" - Gloria Steinem -About Carrie Lynne: A sardonic and antisocial social worker, a certified life coach who is confounded by life's decisions, a writer with a spelling dysfunction, and a sexual health educator with a fear of public speaking. I practice yoga, am a Level II Reike Practitioner working with animals predominantly, and an equine massage therapist. I am involved in animal rescue, which is how I acquired five of the seven pets in my family. Currently I am in California to write, take classes on various subjects of interest, audition for film and television. Long term goals include creating a therapy ranch for troubled youth in my home town. I have nearly figured out human cloning which should seal the deal on my Mensa application and make all these things easier to accomplish. ;)My friends all know I prefer barefeet to high heels, but occasionally like playing dress-up and enjoy the surge that results from wearing my Armani suit. I love the smell of the barn and campfires and don't get nearly enough pedicures in expensive spas. I spend my free time in off-leash parks, at the barn, in remote campsites with an open fire to cook over, or in my back yard cultivating ideas as I care for my garden. I enjoy engaging in frequent discussions about anything other than me, or you, and our respective dramas. Complaining occupies valuable time that is better spent effecting change... but then again nothing feels better than a good bitch session and a listening ear to make room for more productive thoughts."I was never good at hide & seek because I'd always make enough noise so my friends would be sure to find me.I don't have anyone to play those games with any more but now&then I make enough noise just in case someone is still looking and hasnt found me yet"Below is my daughter's first music video... She got cast to act instead of showcase her mad hip-hop skills but she did a great job! Okay, so maybe her Mamma can't crump, but the acting skills she inherited from me!!!

My Interests

Sunny afternoons on horseback, a close game and a cold beer, reading fiction, writing the truth, cooking for friends, being cooked for, a good bottle of red, trying to live up to who my pets think I am, performing on stage, the many facets of human sexuality, planting seeds, pulling weeds, watching bugs, contemplating the meaning of things, witnessing my two amazing daughters become women."A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." - Robert A. Heinlein

I'd like to meet:

The Dalai Lama, my split-apart, and the tooth fairy. "If you are a dreamer, come in, If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer... If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire For we have flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" - Shel Silverstein

Music:

Jazz, old-school funk and R&B for uppers, female vocalists for bringing me back down. I am a closeted country fan when I wanna feel my roots, and I have a guilty "thing" for 80's rock when my house is dirty. I have soundtracks for the road, for cleaning, for crying, instead of crying, for dancing and for shagging. Below is a sample of my eclectic tastes...

Movies:

I prefer theater, but my favorite films, I hate to choose. How about the last ones I saw, that would be easier: The Great Debaters, Juno, and a cute little film I rented the other day Sordid Lives. Epic films, mysteries, historical stories, and yes, the occasional chick flick. I love a good comedy and a good tear jerker equally. I watched the Exorcist at 13 years old and don't watch horror flicks now at all, besides life scares me shitless already.

Television:

I wish I could catch more of Dexter, The L-Word, Greys Anatomy, Scrubs, Rescue Me, Weeds, and The Young and the Restless (25 years now, thanks to my Nana). I indulge occasionally in trashy reality tv because it reminds me what the punch line is!

Books:

Last books read were Dan Savage-Skipping Toward Gamorrah and Noah Levine-Against the Stream. Currently reading Allan Carr-The Easy Way to Stop Smoking, Erica Jong-How to Save Your Own Life, John Irving-A Widow for One Year, and Susie Bright-How to Write a Dirty Story. Faves include: East of Eden, John Steinbeck,; Beloved, Toni Morrison; Watership Down, Richard Adams, Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley... I love to read... any good suggestions?

Heroes:

People who stand up and speak out about injustice. People who make change and leave all that they connect with in better condition than they found it. People who understand that we are all the same and who can honor the light shining through others just as much as it shines through themselves.
