Watch New Anyway Video for "Lost"
ANYWAY play an interesting and eclectic mix of punk rock that manages to be simultaneously melodic and discordant, as well as both new and familiar. On the first listen it is hard to place their sound, yet after awhile their influences bubbled to the surface. One could say there’s a DC vibe to this, but not in the contrived manner of so many other bands that try to hard to create that sound. Their sound can be compared most strongly to Mission of Burma, perhaps Citizen Fish minus the ska, as well as snippets of Fugazi and Nation of Ulysses. The guitars are jangly and trebly, the vocals sung with determination and energy while the bass and drums give the songs structure and drive the whole thing forward. In a time of clones that are distinguishable from other bands, it’s refreshing to hear a band do their own thing for a change.
