About Me

(I was actually born in 1888, MySpace doesnt let you go that far. I'm the patriarch of the greatest political family and dynasty in American history. I went to Harvard and by age 25 was already president of a small bank. Later I moved into investment banking, movie theaters, film production and liquor, becoming wealthy in the process. I supported Democrat Franklin Roosevelt in the elections of 1932; in 1933 the new president made me chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. In 1938 FDR appointed me ambassador to Britain, making me the first Irish Catholic to hold that post. My 1913 marriage to Rose Fitzgerald, the daughter of Boston mayor John "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald, resulted in nine children. Our first son, Joe Jr., was tragically killed in WW II. Our next oldest son John was elected to Congress in 1946 and became president in 1961. Two other sons, Robert and Edward, became prominent U.S. senators. Bobby was killed running for the Presidency in 1968.
