Nadine Florence was born and raised in beautiful British Columbia, where she began using her vocal talents early as part of a very musical family. As a youth, she performed live extensively, either at church, in theatre productions or at public venues. At the age of 19 she joined a band in Victoria, B.C. This local cover band -- later named Western Funk Rodeo -- was green but overflowing with talent. What started out as an acoustic Sunday gig rapidly turned into a 3-night weekend party. The club was standing room only for almost 4 years.Following up on that experience, Nadine moved to Nelson, B.C. to attend the Contemporary Music and Technology Program at Selkirk College as a vocal major. Here she met the wonderful group of musicians from the popular R&B/Soul band What It Is. Passionate about singing, creating music and performing live, Nadine has found in What It Is a group of immeasurably talented people to share this common love.Influenced by such artists as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Annie Lennox, Nadine yields a serious weapon of soul, funk and groove. This girl was born to sing, perform, and bring joy to the world through her voice and presence.
