About Me

Seems I've traveled a lot of different paths and now I wear a lot of different hats...jazz singer, voice over coach, voice over actor, (proud union actor) Guild certified Feldenkrais practitioner, and assistant to a wonderfully gifted screenwriter/writer whose new book on Tupac Shakur,("Tupac Shakur,Legacy"), will be in all the stores August 28th.Mostly everything else you might want to know about me can be found on my website www.lainiecooke.com. If you click on the song that's playing on this page you'll be taken to my MUSIC page LAINIE COOKE www.myspace/lainiesmusic where you can hear other cuts from my CD "Here's to Life". Following so many different paths has meant I haven't been able to pursue my music in a very straight line. It took me a long time to get this CD done. I've been singing in New York and LA for years, but it still took a long time. Hoping to do the next one sometime next year.In the meantime, look for Paulette McWilliams and me at Joe's Pub on November 7th in an encore performance of our show "White, Black & Blues" with the Nat Adderley, Jr. Quartet. For other upcoming gigs - see my music page. And if you Really want to know something else about me - ask me about the years I spent in the West Indies on the island of Jamaica as a chicken farmer!

My Interests

Jazz and Politics, saving the planet and laughing with friends, great meals, good wine, my family and extended families, staying healthy and loving the life I have.

Music:

My first love is jazz, jazz, jazz - but I like all kinds of music. Brazilian, world, latin, old time rock and roll, classical, it's true - there's only good music and bad music.... here's the CDBABY LINK for LAINIE COOKE: Here's To Life -- There's two great bands on this CD One from New York and one from LA. In New York: Tedd Firth- piano, David Lahm - piano, Cameron Brown - bass, Matt Wilson - drums, Joey Morant - trumpet and in LA Dick Shreve on piano, Bob Maize on bass and Paul Kreibich on drums. Planning new CD. soon come.
